Job Summary

Corewell Health is seeking a Director, Patient Care Services - Obstetrics Serviceline. The Director, Patient Care Services supports the mission of providing excellent health and healing services to our communities, and to provide direction and leadership to an assigned group of clinical departments.

Essential Functions - Director, Patient Care Services - OB Serviceline

  • Responsible for developing and managing the command center with responsibilities including but not limited to patient flow management, process improvement initiatives such as assurance of referral to appropriate level of care for admissions & transfers, correct and timely placement of patients requiring inpatient level of care within the Corewell Health South division, and managing efficient patient throughput in all other aspects of patient flow.

  • In collaboration with the appropriate CNO, Patient Care Services, develops plans, goals, and programs for assigned services which are congruent with the organization's mission and goals.

  • Prepare and submit annual capital, salary, operational, and staffing budgets, anticipating future needs based on projected volume, workload, depreciation, environmental needs, programs and other factors. Monitor operations and budget in order to identify various variances and to research and report on causes.

  • Work collaboratively with care management to ensure regulatory and accreditation standards are met.

  • Work with department leadership on hiring, orienting, training, evaluating and disciplining including suspension and termination of clinical and diagnostic management under his/her authority. Work with department leadership on staff development in assigned department(s), ensuring that staff meet or exceed mandatory annual in-services, certification, system utilization goals, service and quality improvement initiatives, and educational advancement goals. Conduct regular leadership meetings with staff and develop and monitor educational objectives. Serve as a role model, mentor, coach and facilitator for their leadership team.

  • Facilitate communication, continuity of patient care and utilization of resources between divisions and medical staff to achieve maximum benefits of a collaborative model. Facilitate, develop, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive process improvement plan designed to measure program efficiency.

  • Regularly evaluate services in order to ensure that policies, procedures, care plans, standards and systems are followed and serves as a resource person for the management team.

  • Ensure Corewell Health South achieves and maintains health care accreditation and adheres to State and Federal regulatory requirements. Exhibit Corewell Health South's 5 C's by striving to improve patient, family, staff and physician satisfaction measurements.

Qualifications - Director, Patient Care Services - OB Serviceline

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree In healthcare field. Required

  • 3 years of relevant experience clinical and/or diagnostic experience in a leadership role in the related field. Required

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association Upon Hire required Or

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross Upon Hire required

Preferred:

  • Preferred Master's Degree In healthcare field
