The Department of Oral Biology at the College of Dentistry, University of Illinois Chicago is seeking to fill a full-time position at the Assistant Professor level in the tenure-track. The department is looking for a well-trained and energetic individual to lead the research program and educational content in the area of oral microbiology and oral infectious diseases. The candidate is expected to build an innovative, well-funded research program in Oral microbiology and establish collaborations with both clinical and research faculty at the college as well as with faculty across the campus at UIC. With respect to teaching, the candidate is expected to develop and teach undergraduate and graduate level microbiology courses for MS, PhD students. The candidate is expected to have a history of mentorship of graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows. Eligible candidates are required to possess research expertise and doctoral degree (PhD) in one of the following research areas: oral microbiology, high resolution imaging, data sciences or equivalent. Eligible candidates must have experience in conducting basic and applied research in microbiology and oral infectious diseases. The candidate should possess a minimum of 3 years of postdoctoral training with an outstanding publication record. The candidate is expected to demonstrate a high likelihood for extramural funding and preference will be given to candidates who have 1 or more existing/transferable NIH funding. The qualified candidate should have exemplary record of research achievement including peer-review publications and presentation at conferences and scientific events. Preference will be given to dual-trained clinician-scientists (e.g., those holding a DDS, DMD, or equivalent degree along with a PhD), as well as candidates with experience in grant management and serving as a principal investigator. The budgeted salary range for the position is $110,000 to $125,000. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, while also considering internal equity.
