This position will remain open until filled. DESCRIPTIONThis position reports directly to the Chancellor with a dotted line to the Vice Chancellor Student Affairs and Campus Life. The Director is directly accountable to the Chancellor on policy matters pertaining to the National Collegiate Athletics Association and Big West Conference. The Director of Athletics is responsible for planning for the future direction and providing strategic direction for the Intercollegiate Athletic program. The Director is responsible for development of professional and paraprofessionals in the Athletics program, ensuring continued focus on the academic excellence and achievement of scholar athletes, increasing community development and engagement with Triton Athletics, donor cultivation, and overall professional leadership of the Athletic department. The Director works closely with several offices and departments at UC San Diego including the Office of Ethics and Compliance, Vice Chancellor for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, Enrollment Management, Advancement, Communications and Marketing and UC San Diego Health, among others. The department includes 24 varsity teams, more than 600 scholar-athletes, and a staff of more than 200 coaches and staff. The Director weighs the recommendations from Athletics senior staff, makes final decisions and relays any pertinent information to the Chancellor and Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs. QUALIFICATIONS
Work schedule will include evenings, weekends and holidays. Must be able to travel to out-of-town meetings and athletic competitions. This position is a mandated reporter of known or suspected child abuse or neglect, according to the California law, Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act (CANRA). This position is a campus security authority (CSA) for the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, which is a federal law requiring disclosure of information about crimes on and around campus. Pay Transparency Act Annual Full Pay Range: $180,900 - $400,300 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%) Hourly Equivalent: $86.64 - $191.71 Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
