The University of California San Diego is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Associate Athletic Trainer/Director of Rehabilitation. As an integral member of the Sports Medicine team and Athletic Performance Unit, will play a critical leadership role in the holistic, year-round care of UC San Diego scholar-athletes. Will demonstrate the professional maturity and leadership acumen required. Will bring a growth mindset, strong interdisciplinary / transdisciplinary collaboration skills, and a systematic, performance-focused approach to rehabilitation and reconditioning. Will have a diversity of experience, a track record of innovation, leadership and impact, and a background in elite, interdisciplinary (high-performance preferred) environments. Uses advanced concepts and campus objectives to resolve highly complex athletic training services. Assumes administrative leadership of related sports medicine programs, demonstrating evidence-based practice in selecting methods and techniques for clinical and professional problem solving. Regularly works on highly complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Ensuring the prevention, management, evaluation, treatment and care of all athletic injuries that require significant time loss from sports specific training and competition. Reporting to the Associate Athletic Director of Sports Medicine, lead the sports medicine and athletic performance staff to ensure best practice is upheld in the design and implementation of the return to sport programs customized to meet individual scholar-athlete needs. When necessary, make injury referrals to appropriate medical personnel and manage/organize follow-up care. Oversee the Reconditioning and rehabilitation of scholar-athletes on referral from physicians through the use of appropriate physical agents and therapeutic devices. Collaborate with performance coordinator to implement baseline measurements used for injury prevention and return to sport assessments. With the performance coordinator, lead initial case management meeting with head coaches and program support staff on the overall return to sport for injured scholar-athletes. Create and implement policies and protocols for the use of equipment, injury prevention and treatments, screening tests and assessments. Be an approved Preceptor for athletic training students from various Athletic Training Education Programs. Pay Transparency Act Annual Full Pay Range: $79,200 - $143,400 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%) Hourly Equivalent: $37.93 - $68.68 Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
