About this opportunity:

The R. Wayne Estopinal College of Architecture and Planning welcomes applications for a part-time temporary Construction Project Manager to support the faculty and students in Urban Planning, Architecture, and LA for the design and build housing project in Muncie. The Construction Project Manager will ensure the projects stay focused and aligned; helping with problem solving and timelines.

What you'll do and what you'll bring:

Position Function:

Provide project management leadership for design and build educational construction pursuits in the College of Architecture and Planning.

  • Interact with faculty and students who are engaged in design aspects of design + build projects.
  • Provide ongoing feedback to students and faculty in support of the feasibility and success of the build project. While not directly loaded for teaching a course, will be involved indirectly in diverse settings from desk-crits to pin-ups to on-site construction locations.
  • Maintain safe working environments for faculty, students and collaborators;
  • With ecoREHAB staff, secure necessary building permits for jobs
  • Assist with tool set-up and ongoing maintenance in the woodshop to be used by students and faculty for the design + build project
  • Lead material take-off and procurement efforts for college design-build projects.
  • Project management and skill training to community partners as related to design + build efforts of college.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in architecture, construction management, or related field by time of appointment.
  • 5+ years of experience in the building industries (architecture and/or construction management). Ability to travel to different work locations - Ball State campus as well as remote locations at the build site(s).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Contractor certification and/or licensure as required by local governance and/or architectural license.
  • Teaching experience preferred in related areas in high school or college.
