Description

First Merchants Bank is seeking a Manager, Deposit Maintenace to join our team! This position will be responsible for ensuring the Deposit Maintenance department runs efficiently and effectively. Provide direction to the operations staff to ensure delivery of superior quality service and support for internal and external customers.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:



  • Team Management/Talent Development

    • Manage staff: hire, train, mentor, evaluate performance, recommend salary adjustments and career changes, and facilitate disciplinary counseling and terminations.
    • Utilize effective employee engagement, motivation and recognition techniques to support high performance and morale.
    • Coach and mentor staff to achieve departmental and personal goals and improve the overall performance of the department.
    • Ensure that team members have clear goals and direction and develop a culture of service excellence.


  • Processes & Procedures

    • Maintain sound procedures and process controls to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and SOX key controls.
    • Continually review processes for improvement opportunities to enhance efficiency, mitigate risk, and/or improve customer experience (this includes evaluating technology capabilities).
    • Participate in projects that advance our operations teams. Represent department and advocate for improvements.


  • Risk Management/Audit

    • Participate in Audits and Enterprise Risk exercises by representing the department.
    • Report self-identified findings when areas of concern and operational mishaps are discovered.


  • Metrics

    • Identify, track, evaluate and report on Key Performance/Risk Indicators (KPIs & KRIs) that monitor department performance.
    • Develop plans to correct metrics and performance when thresholds are exceeded.


  • Deposit Maintenance

    • Stay abreast of industry changes around operational processing rules and best practices.

      • Partner with key Line of Business areas regarding rule changes and how FMB internal processes and practices need to be updated.


    • Handle escalation requests from business partners when requests or procedures are in question.

      • Make risk-based decisions based on policy, standards, and processes.


    • Manage and lead IRA/HSA activities. Maintain compliance standards and updates associated with IRAs and HSAs.
    • Manage and lead the Deposit Maintenance activities, maintain compliance standards and updates accordingly.




To be successfil in this position, we require the following:



  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • A minimum of five (5) years in a bank production environment or related experience; OR a minimum of three (3) years in a First Merchants bank production role.
  • Experience managing a team of associates.


The following would be a plus:



  • Bachelor's degree in business, management, accounting or related field of study.
  • Certified IRA Services Professional (CISP) designation or experience working with IRA accounts.
