Medical services roles encompass a variety of positions involved in providing occupational healthcare services, clinical support, drug and alcohol testing oversight, and patient care within a clinical setting. Professionals in these roles deliver quality patient care, support medical staff, track trending problem areas/events, manage technical programs and ensure the efficient operation of healthcare facilities.

Discipline Description

Physician roles encompass a wide range of responsibilities in occupational healthcare, including patient care, diagnosis, treatment, and medical research. Physicians provide medical care to patients, conduct physical examinations, evaluate medical histories, assess symptoms, assess occupational workplace hazards, and order/interpret medical tests to diagnose medical conditions and determine fitness for duty and/or work limitations/restrictions.

Some Typical Duties & Responsibilities Include:

Provide medical expertise in occupational health and related disciplines in conjunction with the organization's medical program. Conduct pre-employment physical examinations, periodic check-ups, and medical treatment of occupational illnesses and injuries.

Evaluate the health status of each employee and assist management in placement of each employee in work that can be performed without undue hazard to themselves, fellow workers, plant facilities, site environments, and the public at large. Provide prompt diagnosis and treatment of occupational injury or disease with emphasis on rehabilitation and return to work at the earliest possible time compatible with job safety and the employee's health, and when necessary, to refer such employees for specialty consultation or treatment or in-hospital care. Provide nonoccupational health care for employees experiencing medical emergencies assuring the attention required to prevent loss of life or limb or to relieve suffering until placed under the care of a personal physician. Provide consultative services for those employees with personal health related problems and assist them when indicated to obtain appropriate and prompt care in the private sector. Serve as consultant to the Human Resources Division on health related issues in personnel actions. Serve as an active member of the site management team in the administration of effective occupational health, safety, industrial hygiene, and emergency preparedness programs at this site.

Required Qualifications

* Eight years of experience
* A diploma from an accredited medical school
* An active medical license for the state of South Carolina
* Graduate of an accredited school of medicine or osteopathy
* Must be, or can be, medically licensed in the State of South Carolina. Federal and State narcotic licenses are required.

We'd Also Like to See

Advanced specialty training in Occupational and Environmental Medicine, or Preventative Medicine is preferred.

Occupational Medicine Board certification is desired but not required.

Security Clearance Information

SRNS is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug & alcohol test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, criminal records, and employment history, and education verifications. Positions with SRNS may require applicants to obtain and maintain a DOE L or Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. Factors such as pre-employment background review results, dual citizenship status, and unpaid and/or unfiled taxes may impact your ability to obtain a security clearance. This list of factors is not exhaustive; pre-employment information and security clearance requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
