Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Lead Standards Project Manager within our Electrification program at UL Standards & Engagement. This is a hybrid opportunity based in Evanston, IL OR Raleigh-Durham, NC OR Ottawa, CAN offices.

The Lead Standards Project Manager (Electrification) will partner with the Program Leader, TC Chairs and project managers to support the advancement and extension of a diverse portfolio of standards and the development and implementation of safety standards to advance the mission of UL Standards & Engagement (ULSE) to make the world safer, more secure, and sustainable. The Lead Project Manager will support the development and maintenance of standards for the program by coordinating interdependencies and driving collaboration with stakeholders and partners. In this role, the Lead Project Manager will demonstrate leadership and partnership to enable product portfolio expansion, identify standards gaps in core industries, and build relationships with high-value stakeholder groups.

What you'll learn and achieve:

As the Lead Standards Project Manager (Electrification), you will play a key role in the rapid growth of UL as you:

  • Lead and manage standards engagements to enable the development, implementation and continuous improvement of safety standards.

  • Plan and execute activities to demonstrate leadership and presence in industry groups where the program's expertise is sought.

  • Contribute to the program management associated with assigned core industries, providing input and recommendations related to portfolio of standards.

  • Identify and prioritize industry and stakeholder groups where the program's impact and influence are established, evolving, or present opportunity for impact. Develop and apply end-to-end solutions and implement proactive strategies to address complex, undefined and ambiguous challenges.

  • Drive collaboration with internal and external stakeholders according to roadmaps, industry priorities, demand drivers, and program strategies.

  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders on development, interpretation, and deployment of standards for core industries. Engage in technical committees and other standards-related activities within specific industry sectors or categories as determined by the program.

  • Develop relationships with core industries to assure participation of high-value stakeholder groups (fire safety, regulators, safety science experts, trade organizations, global interests).

  • Demonstrate impact and influence within the standards development community through work in technical or program area.

  • Identify opportunities for program and portfolio expansion and create capacity for new high-impact standards by leveraging landscape analyses, identifying standards gaps, and providing thought leadership.

  • Demonstrate awareness of industry trends and external context related to the portfolio and program in areas including regulatory, compliance, government, and global frameworks influencing public safety and hazards.

  • Perform other duties as directed.

  • Strategic thinker with ability to innovate and adapt in a dynamic industry landscape.

Professional education and experience requirements for the role include:

  • Bachelor's degree required. Technical or advanced degree preferred.

  • Minimum 7 years of related work experience.

  • Experience working or engaging with or leading influence in electrification-based industry groups or associations.

  • PMP or relevant project management certification a plus.
