RECRUITMENT: The State Highway Administration's (SHA) District 5 is recruiting for a DOT Procurement Officer I in Charles County. This position is open to anyone who meets the minimum qualifications listed below. The resulting list of eligible candidates will be used to fill this vacancy and may be used to fill future vacancies in this classification.
Nature of Work: The main purpose of this position is to solicit, evaluate, negotiate, award and administer supply and service contracts for a district shop according to state procurement laws and regulations. This position will function at the experienced level of work in procurement.
This position will handle all small procurement (less than $50,000) for the needs of the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration District 5 Maintenance Facility and/or District 5 office, including--soliciting, evaluation, negotiation, awarding and administering supply and service contracts according to COMAR- Title 21- Subtitle 05- Chapter 07- Small Procurement Regulations. MDOT SHA procurement regulations require adequate separation of duties to be established between the purchasing and receiving functions. This position will function at the experienced level of work in procurement of equipment, services, construction supplies, information technology and other needs, which must be obtained through the competitive or negotiated procurement process. Employees will not supervise others at the same level but may supervise or give guidance and direction to other support staff.

This position is considered essential. Candidates are subject to call-in and must be available to work 24 hours/day - 7 days/week. Must be able to reach the incumbent by cell phone.
