Job Title: Mechanical Engineer / Drafter

Location(s): Austin, TX

Position Overview:

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer / Drafter to support our R&D, sustaining R&D, and Manufacturing Engineering teams in the development of innovative medical technologies, including Intelliblade (microwave ablation) and cryotherapy systems for cancer treatment. This is a new position created to expand our team, offering the opportunity to work hands-on in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Prepare detailed layouts, drawings, and designs in SolidWorks and related CAD tools.
  • Perform engineering design calculations and ensure adherence to drafting standards.
  • Create CAD design layouts, assemblies, and detail drawings of mechanical parts, fixtures, and assemblies.
  • Design and produce 3D-printed fixtures for manufacturing and testing.
  • Retrieve, manage, and revise CAD files in PDM systems (SolidWorks PDM, Windchill, PTC Creo, or Teamcenter).
  • Review engineering drawings and supporting documentation for accuracy and compliance.
  • Work cross-functionally with R&D and manufacturing teams, effectively communicating findings orally and in writing.
  • Troubleshoot design issues, propose solutions, and support prototyping and testing.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications:



  • Associate's degree in Drafting or STEM (Bachelor's degree preferred).
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks (Creo and other CAD tools a plus).
  • Strong knowledge of drafting standards, revision control, and GD&T.
  • Experience with complex parts, assemblies, and tooling design.
  • Hands-on prototyping or lab experience.
  • 4+ years of drafting/mechanical design experience OR entry-level engineer with strong drafting skills.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Experience with medical device design control and regulated industry practices.
  • Familiarity with aerospace, defense, or medical device industries.
  • Experience with PCB layout exposure a plus.
  • Knowledge of additive manufacturing (3D printing).
