The Executive Director, VBC Education and Population Health Competency provides strategic leadership for advancing systemwide understanding and operationalization of Value-Based Care (VBC) across Cone Health and its affiliates. This role is responsible for the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of education, training, and competency development for clinical and non-clinical teams that support the management of population health work broadly across Cone health. The Executive Director leads efforts to ensure alignment with Cone Health's model of care, regulatory and accreditation standards, and organizational goals. This position also oversees systemwide patient education strategies for the outpatient population and drives physician and provider engagement in VBC principles. With accountability for workforce development tied to VBCI programs and services, the Executive Director ensures that deployed models are supported by a trained, competent workforce. The role also includes ownership of annual compliance, auditing, and evaluation of training programs to ensure effectiveness and impact. Operating with a high level of independence and judgment, the Executive Director guides the development and adoption of new tools, technologies, and service delivery models to meet the evolving needs of the health system and its communities. In conjunction with the other leaders in The Value-Based Care Institute, this Executive Director will collaborate to support strategies and initiatives that guide the overarching Value-Based Care programs and services for Cone Health and the Clinically Integrated Network. Overseeing the execution, implementation, and progress of this strategy at the affiliate level. This Executive Director will support creation and adherence to operational standards for the model of care within Cone Health, Health Team Advantage and Triad Health Network. This Executive Director will have responsibility to oversee staff training, staff competencies and adherence to the suite of programs and services being deployed across the health system and with external partners. |

Training & Development Develop and oversee comprehensive training programs for both clinical and non-clinical staff to support consistent delivery of the model of care. Collaborate with clinical leaders to define educational priorities based on evidence-based practices and evolving care standards. Design onboarding, continuing education, and role-specific training pathways across all staff levels. Integrate adult learning principles, innovative delivery methods (e.g., e-learning, simulations), and cultural competence into training design. Identify opportunities for growth and improvement in clinical care delivery. Stay informed about market trends, healthcare policies, and regulatory changes to guide strategic decision-making. Lead the effort of the Value Institute?s care model design and build, specifically the development of training, auditing and staff development to ensure success in outcomes. Partners with State Leaders on Education and Development of Clinical Staff: NC AHEC for development of Local resources Competency Management Establish and maintain a robust framework for competency development and validation across roles. Create and periodically update competency assessments to ensure clinical proficiency and alignment with organizational goals. Coordinate with department heads and HR to ensure staff performance reviews incorporate competency expectations. Annual Requirements & Certifications Manage training and educational opportunities for achieving expertise and content that supports fulfillment of all annual training and certification requirements. Ensure timely re-training and compliance for all regulatory-mandated education. Serve as the subject matter expert and liaison for external certification and accreditation audits for personal growth and team growth. Supporting achievement of the VBCI reaching NCQA accreditation along with personal accreditation of each role such Compliance & Quality Assurance Lead internal audits related to education and program adherence and develop corrective action plans as necessary. Maintain training documentation in accordance with legal and regulatory guidelines. Develop and maintain quality assurance programs to ensure compliance with regulatory standards. Monitor clinical outcomes to identify areas for improvement and implement necessary changes. Foster a culture of continuous quality improvement within the teams supporting broad clinical and non-clinical work. Develop a system for rigorous, repetitive, tiered clinical reviews for regional and market-based teams. Monitor compliance with federal, state, and accreditation standards related to training, competencies, and delivery of care. Systemwide Model of Care Integration & Engagement to Integrated Care Delivery Responsibility for the teams supporting onboarding of all VBCI & Population Health like teams including Tech & Analytics, Quality programs, Accountable Community/Health Equity, and Population Health program leadership. Acts as the System LEAD for alignment of Patient Education materials in patient education in the Ambulatory space. Acts as the convenor of all ambulatory areas. Identify gaps in implementation and collaborate with clinical leadership to develop remediation strategies. Use data-driven insights to refine training approaches and model of care fidelity. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to improve care coordination and patient outcomes. |
EDUCATION: |
Required: Bachelor's degree in nursing, Healthcare Administration, Education, or a related field. Preferred: Master's degree in one of the following: Nursing (MSN) Healthcare Administration (MHA or MBA with healthcare focus) Education (M.Ed. in Adult Education or Instructional Design) Public Health (MPH) |
EXPERIENCE: |
Required: Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in population health management, care coordination, or healthcare program development within an integrated delivery system. Preferred: Focus on healthcare software/technology development. |
