Position Summary |
The Laboratory Coordinator will provide critical support to the Principal Investigator by contributing specialized expertise in histology, tissue staining, microscopy, molecular biology, and cellular biology. This position is responsible for generating high-quality, reproducible data that will advance research projects, strengthen grant submissions, and support publications. |

Experimental Research
- Independently design, plan, and conduct experiments in histology, tissue staining, microscopy, molecular biology, and cellular biology.
- Generate high-quality, reproducible data that will advance research projects, strengthen grant submissions, and support publications.
- Evaluate and troubleshoot experimental procedures, adapt protocols as needed, and implement methodological improvements.
- Interpret results and propose next steps or alternative approaches to advance research goals.
- Maintain awareness of current literature relevant to ongoing projects and integrate findings into experimental design.

Data and Records
- Assist with grant preparation, progress reports, and manuscript development by providing preliminary data, figures, and methodological input.
- Maintain accurate records, organize protocols, and coordinate with departmental staff for administrative and reporting needs.
- Analyze experimental data using appropriate statistical or computational tools.
- Prepare figures, reports, and presentations for lab meetings, publications, and grant applications.
- Maintain well-organized lab records.
- Ensure data integrity, reproducibility, and compliance with institutional standards for research documentation.

Lab Operations
- Oversee day-to-day laboratory operations, including but not limited to ordering supplies, maintaining equipment, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and coordinating with vendors and core facilities.
- Order reagents and consumables and manage laboratory inventory.
- Maintain lab equipment and coordinate repairs and service as needed.
- Monitor lab activities to ensure compliance with UGA's Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) regulations, IACUC, and biosafety protocols.
