Overview

NaphCare is hiring an Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to join our team of medical professionals in Ft Myers Florida, where we manage all aspects of healthcare for the individuals who are currently incarcerated in the Lee County Jail.

As an Assistant Director of Nursing, you will work with the Director of Nursing, correctional staff and other medical professionals to provide quality care to the individuals in residence, while managing the nursing team and ensuring all work is performed in compliance to standards and adherence to regulations.



Responsibilities

The Assistant Director of Nursing supervises staff and ensures policies and procedures are being followed in our continued mission to provide quality care that protects the rights, dignity, and health of our unique patient population. Duties and responsibilities may include and are not limited to:

    Collaborating with medical, mental health and correctional staff to enhance quality patient care while maintaining a safe and secure work environment
  • Assist DON in managing nursing staff, monitoring staffing needs, hiring and training of new staff and conducting performance evaluations
  • Effectively communicate with healthcare staff and correctional staff to coordinate patient care with providers outside of the facility
  • Monitoring compliance with site-specific and company policies and procedures, taking appropriate corrective action, and ensuring compliance with ACA, NCCHC standards
  • Creating and managing staffing schedules to ensure adequate nursing coverage for all shifts
  • Ensuring all heath care related equipment and supplies, including pharmaceuticals and over the counter medications, are appropriately stocked and available at all times
  • Maintaining current and accurate patient records and documentation
  • Developing staff, conducting in-service training for new and current staff
  • Conducting daily clinical rounds to all designated areas of responsibility to observe and review documentation, orders, and patient care plans, and ensuring objectives are understood and practiced by the nursing staff
  • Assisting in daily triage/sick call, minor medical/surgical procedures, and patient assessments
  • Participating in all monthly, quarterly, and annual meetings as assigned and required in accordance with contract compliance
  • Mitigating risks by proactively addressing potential hazards, including dangerous work conditions, health and safety concerns and reporting issues to company leadership and facility management.


Qualifications

Experience / Requirements / Qualifications

  • Holds a current, unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse within the State
  • Must possess an active BLS/CPR Certification (AHA preferred)

  • Must pass the facility's criminal background check and drug screening
  • Two years of clinical and progressive management experience providing comprehensive medical, dental, and mental healthcare services within a correctional healthcare or acute care setting
  • Ability to manage complex staffing matrices and clinical supplies
  • Excellent communication skills with proven experience managing and training medical staff
  • Knowledge of nursing practice principles and techniques, occupational health and safety standards, infectious disease management, applicable health care laws, regulations, and procedures for direct health care services
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
  • Integrity, professionalism and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements

Physical Capabilities:

Must have the ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR, all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift.
