What to Expect
The Instructional Designer will have extensive training experience in industrial or manufacturing environments with expertise in content creation processes and tools. They will also have a strong desire to help build and maintain a world class training program in a dynamic, industry-defining organization. This developer will have a passion for teaching others and achieving excellence through instruction and problem-solving actions.

What You'll Do
  • Develop high quality, engaging training content on a wide variety of subjects in concert with factory Subject Matter Experts (SMEs). Collaborate with SMEs and stakeholders to identify training objectives and gather resources for content development and lead informal teams to develop training projects. Work cross-functionally with training teams worldwide to manage content storage
  • Manage learning enrollments, ensure there are effective assessments in place to determine learner competency, and design process execution-focused training plans for various job roles and functions in the Manufacturing portion of the organization. Manage the Learning Management System (LMS) for manufacturing training
  • Maintain and update existing content when needed. Manage content requests and issue escalations. Support trouble shooting training system issues
  • Assess training project impact on the business. Implement assessment strategies to measure learning outcomes, track ROI on training initiatives, and refine programs based on feedback from customers (such as improvements in error rates or productivity gains). Identify and track measures-of-success for training initiatives
  • Work with various parts of the Manufacturing training teams to manage content storage
  • Utilize authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Rise, Adobe Captivate) and LMS platforms to build scalable training solutions, including VR/AR simulations for high-risk manufacturing environments to minimize downtime and errors
  • Create engaging, multimedia instructional materials (e.g., e-learning modules, videos, and simulations) for manufacturing processes, including equipment operation, quality control, and assembly line workflows, ensuring alignment with operational goals and safety standards

What You'll Bring
  • Degree in Social Sciences, Instructional Design, Education, Industrial Engineering or 4 years of practical experience in training, with coursework in adult learning theories or technical training methodologies
  • Knowledge of methods, techniques, resources, and materials used in delivering training. Understanding of and commitment to Tesla's teaching, mission, and philosophy. Innovative, flexible, positive teaching style and understanding the needs of students from diverse backgrounds
  • Strong ability to work and communicate effectively with team and peers within various parts of the Manufacturing organization
  • Strong analytical problem-solving and project management skills. Technology Skills: Strong computer experience, expertise with content development tools, Storyline or Rise experience a plus
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite development software while having Graphic design and/or Premier Pro skills are a plus
  • Project management, self-management and multi-tasking skills. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, especially with problem solving and relationship buildin
  • Experience maintaining or updating course material within a learning management system. Strong ability to work in cross-functional groups from diverse technical and experienced backgrounds. Perform other duties as assigned to support learning

    Expected Compensation
    $57,600 - $108,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

    Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
