Position Overview
The Cardiac Catheterization Technologist is responsible for supporting physicians in the performance of diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures, including cardiac catheterizations, PCI (STEMI), peripheral vascular interventions, pacemaker placements, and interventional radiology procedures. This role involves preparing and assisting during procedures, monitoring and documenting hemodynamic data, and ensuring patient safety and quality of care throughout all phases of the procedure. The technologist is also responsible for meeting on-call requirements to support emergency STEMI activations and other urgent cardiac cases. Job Responsibilities
Prepare and assist with cardiac catheterizations, PCI (STEMI), peripheral vascular, pacemaker, and interventional radiology procedures
Monitor, document, and calculate hemodynamic and procedural data accurately
Provide procedural assistance to physicians during pre-, intra-, and post-procedure phases
Prepare patients for procedures, ensuring proper identification, consent, and pre-procedure readiness
Assess and manage vascular access sites, promptly notifying the physician of any concerns
Operate and maintain specialized cath lab and imaging equipment per established protocols
Adhere to cath lab safety procedures, infection control standards, and on-call protocols
Participate in emergency call rotation, responding promptly to STEMI activations and other emergent cases
Support a patient-centered environment by maintaining professionalism, communication, and teamwork at all times
Job Requirements
Licensed Radiologic Technologist required
RCIS certification preferred
Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications required
Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP) experience required
Minimum of one year of experience in a Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory required
Strong technical, analytical, and patient care skills with attention to procedural detail
Ability to work in high-pressure, fast-paced environments and respond effectively to emergencies
Education
Shift and On-Call Requirements
Shift: Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. or 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
On-Call: STEMI on-call coverage required on weekdays and rotational weekends (1-2 weekends per month)
