About The Role

The role of the Personal Banker is to actively work to develop and maintain long-standing customer relationships. You will greet, listen, engage, and actively profile to ascertain your customer's needs and present sound and mutually beneficial financial solutions. You will maintain high quality personal performance standards and actively request support and training as needed. The Personal Banker demonstrates a high degree of accountability while delivering superb customer service and compiling with all banking laws and regulations.

The salary range for this position is $22.50-$25.00 per hour. All compensation offers are analyzed individually and take into consideration multiple factors including but not limited to geographic location, years of experience, and educational background.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Customer Relationship Development:

  • Primarily responsible for developing and retaining customer relationships.
  • Play an integral role in bank growth by meeting customer's needs while maintaining profitability and actively finding opportunities to enhance customer relationships.
  • Responsible for identifying customer needs through active listening and profiling and fulfilling their needs with appropriate products and services.
  • Act promptly on customer requests, following through on commitments and obligations. Ask follow-up questions to determine if customer needs and expectations have been addressed.
  • Maintain proficient knowledge of Bank of the San Juans deposit and consumer loan products and services to effectively present the appropriate solutions to the customer.
  • As a representative of Bank of the San Juans you will conduct yourself at all times in a positive and professional manner while maintaining a professional appearance and treating everyone with dignity and respect.

Teller Responsibilities:

  • Assist with teller transactions, including but not limited to: receive deposits, accept checks for cashing, accept loan payments, accept wire transfer requests, fill business change orders, issue cashier's checks/money orders, cash Series EE Bonds, sell travel cards, process credit card advance requests, process foreign currency transactions, process telephone transfers, process and record night deposit transactions, process check orders, issue debit cards.
  • Possess a basic knowledge of bank products to include deposit products such as checking, savings, money market, CDs, and e-banking. Promote High Performance Checking Tell-A-Friend Program.
  • Maintain balancing record by correctly balancing cash daily, locates overages or shortages, sells excess cash to vault and maintains established cash levels in drawer. Sorts, counts, and wraps money to be transferred to the vault.

New Account Responsibilities:

  • Assist with wide variety of customer services including opening and maintaining deposit and savings accounts, safe deposit boxes, and e-banking products. Prepare associated documentation and scan for record retention purposes.
  • Assist customers with opening CDs/IRAs and educate customers as to penalties, earnings, etc.
  • Use every customer contact as an opportunity to advise customer about additional services or programs that might benefit them.
  • Must comply with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.

Consumer Lending Responsibilities:

  • Identify opportunities to offer additional consumer loan products/services to new/existing customers
  • Interview consumer loan applicants.
  • Correspond with consumer loan applicants throughout the application process to obtain information and documentation, communicate loan decision and schedule closing meetings.
  • Responsible for compliance with consumer loan sections of loan policy. Keep current with consumer lending regulations.

Compliance and Security:

  • Take responsibility for remaining compliant with all applicable banking laws and regulations as well as following company policies and procedures, management directives, security and operational procedures.
  • Accountable for maintaining accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects of the job.
  • Responsible for keeping all information related to customers, co-workers and the bank private and confidential. Assure that any private information is accessed only as it pertains to the performance of your position, being aware of others who can hear your conversations or view private information.
  • actively protect Bank of the San Juans and its customers from counterfeit and fraudulent activity by staying current on fraud warnings and initiating discussion with customers regarding specific transactions to prevent potential loss to customers and Bank of the San Juans.
  • Complete all required annual compliance training and continuing education to stay current with bank policy, regulations and licensing requirements.
  • Responsible to stay aware of and adhere to the banks security policy. Notify management of any situation that may cause a security risk.

About You

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One year customer service and financial institution experience required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, ABILITY:

  • Knowledge of BSJ services and products.
  • Understanding of related legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Familiarity with branch functions, GBCI policies, and procedures, and BSJ guidelines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Well organized.
  • Attention to detail.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with moderate noise level.
  • Must be able to work Monday-Friday with rotating Saturdays.

Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in an emergency situation.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS: Starting salary is dependent upon relevant experience and may vary based on the geographic location of the position.
