Job Summary

This position is responsible for the Construction Equipment team. This includes financial planning/management, team leadership, small tools/consumables, maintenance planning and tactical repairs for all equipment assigned. The primary equipment pool accountability will be the Construction Equipment pool. As a manager within the company, this role must demonstrate leadership to Graniterock Team Members, in alignment with Graniterock's Family Vision, Core Purpose, Core Values, Strategic Priorities and business objectives.

Essential Job Accountabilities

  1. Comply, understand, and drive Graniterock's Core Values, including safety initiatives to ensure "Safety before All Else."
  2. Using the "Working together" principles, collaborate and reach across company lines and work with other operating groups and Corporate Resources to achieve Graniterock's overall "One Company" vision.
  3. Work collaboratively as a member of the Leadership Team and foster a culture of innovation and problem-solving through effective project delivery and working together principles that add value to our business.
  4. Lead the maintenance team to work together interdependently, collaboratively, and cohesively to achieve operational objectives. Build and maintain ethical relationships with our customers, vendors, and partners. Through these practices, aim to make Graniterock a well-respected leader in both our industry and community.
  5. Authorize and approve all personnel-related items (hire, transfer, requisition, change request, etc.) and work in partnership with Human Resources to ensure staffing needs are met for current and future business needs.
  6. Effectively recruit, hire, retain and develop people at all levels of Graniterock. Hold people accountable for performance and utilize Graniterock people systems to grow Team Member's business knowledge, skills, and experience to ensure an organization prepared for growth and accountability.
  7. Manage the maintenance program for the Graniterock equipment pools to maintain accurate records of maintenance costs and equipment condition and repair history. Schedule and execute required inspections, routine maintenance, breakdown investigations and root cause analyses to make informed decisions based on data.
  8. Participate in the Capital Expenditure process and lend assistance and support to the EVP Construction based on operational data and technical knowledge gained from equipment performance.
  9. Lead the Construction small tools/consumables distribution team to ensure small tools, supplies, traffic control equipment and trailers are maintained to support project needs.

Education and Work Experience

* BS degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or related field or equivalent work experience in equipment management, heavy civil, highway construction and management.

* 10+ years' experience in Equipment, Construction, Aggregate, Materials or Construction operations management.

* 5+ years of progressive experience in fleet management, equipment administration, or related experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

* Thorough knowledge of heavy equipment (e.g., Caterpillar machines) and application including fleet equipment maintenance and fleet lifecycle management.

* Demonstrated exceptional leadership skills and management of teams.

* Advanced knowledge of construction, mining, and transportation operations (technology, equipment, methods), procedures and standards.

* Demonstrated financial and profit planning experience: ability to manage costs, track ROI and forecast capital needs.

* Demonstrated excellent communication, organizational, supervisory, decision making and problem-solving skills required.

* Demonstrated ability to influence others and engage with all levels within Graniterock to motivate and enable change.

* Ability to cultivate trusting, professional, and respectful relationships with all Team Members.

* Proficiency with JDE and all MS Office products such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.

* Advanced knowledge of Graniterock policies and business process and systems.
