The General, a subsidiary of Sentry Insurance, is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated professional to join our team. In this role, you will provide higher-level technical support to enhance operational efficiency within our claims department. You'll leverage your system knowledge to perform in-depth financial and vendor research and analysis, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of data entering our claims systems. Additionally, you'll play a key role in communicating critical insights to internal business partners to support accurate external reporting. What You'll Do

As a Senior Claims Support Rep, you will:

  • Partner with Finance and claims compliance areas to complete the due diligence work on uncashed claim payments before they are turned over to individual states as unclaimed property.

  • Work with Finance to obtain and validate Employer Identification Numbers (EIN) that are required for vendor payments issued by the claim department and appropriate IRS reporting.

  • Partner with claim professionals to validate signatures on important insurance documents associated with the claim handling process.

  • Work with the claims compliance/controls team to ensure appropriate claim handling - e.g., authority is updated in the claim systems allowing for the processing of claim payments.

  • Manage work queue, handling files and activities that have fallen out of assignment that require research and analysis to redirect them to the appropriate adjuster or team.

  • Updates the system monthly to reflect the inflation index, the auto/physical damage rate tool and Personal Injury Protection (PIP) Interest rate.

Additionally, you will:

  • Support claims vendor management area in removing access to business applications for departing adjusters.

  • Package documents in support of Department of Insurance complaints, surcharges, and other Legal files.

  • Receives and answers structured settlement inquiries.

  • May be requested to complete other assignments or participate in projects based upon skills, achievements, or experience.

What it Takes

  • Basic knowledge and understanding of claims foundational information for various lines of business.

  • Basic knowledge and understanding of escheatment processes, including understanding of authority vs. having to consult with others.

  • Demonstrated experience communicating with internal and external customers via phone and email.

  • Solid knowledge and understanding of research strategies to improve productivity, including how to find historical data from archives.

  • Demonstrated experience working with highly confidential data.

  • Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions, support, or service.
