Job Summary:

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Cybersecurity Engineer with at least 3 years of experience and a strong background in federal cybersecurity standards. This role supports the design, implementation, and maintenance of security controls across federal IT systems, ensuring compliance with NIST, FISMA, and agency-specific requirements. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced, compliance-driven environment and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Implement and manage security controls in accordance with NIST SP 800-53, RMF, FISMA, and FedRAMP guidelines.
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments and remediation using tools such as ACAS, Nessus, or Qualys.
  • Support system authorization and continuous monitoring activities, including development of System Security Plans (SSPs), POA&Ms, and Risk Assessments.
  • Collaborate with ISSOs, system owners, and developers to ensure secure system design and implementation.
  • Monitor security events and respond to incidents using SIEM platforms (e.g., Splunk, ArcSight).
  • Assist in the development and enforcement of cybersecurity policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Participate in audits, inspections, and compliance reviews.
  • Stay current with emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and federal cybersecurity directives.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in cybersecurity, preferably supporting federal government systems.
  • Familiarity with federal cybersecurity frameworks and tools (e.g., eMASS, Xacta, STIGs, SCAP).
  • Experience with endpoint protection, firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and encryption technologies.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.
Preferred Certifications:
  • Must sit onsite in San Diego, CA
  • Must hold an Active Security Clearance
  • CISSP, CEH, CAP, or GSEC (preferred)
  • ITIL Foundation or equivalent (optional)
