We are seeking a skilled Mid-Level Systems Engineer with federal government experience to support the design, implementation, and maintenance of mission-critical systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in systems engineering principles, federal IT compliance, and lifecycle management. This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure systems meet performance, security, and operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the design, integration, and deployment of IT systems in accordance with federal standards and agency requirements.
  • Develop and maintain system architecture documentation, interface control documents, and technical specifications.
  • Perform system analysis, requirements gathering, and validation activities.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to ensure systems comply with NIST RMF, FISMA, and agency-specific security controls.
  • Conduct performance tuning, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis for system issues.
  • Participate in configuration management and change control processes.
  • Assist in the development of test plans, procedures, and validation reports.
  • Provide technical support during system upgrades, migrations, and deployments.
  • Interface with vendors, contractors, and government stakeholders to ensure project alignment and compliance.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in systems engineering, preferably supporting federal government programs.
  • Familiarity with federal IT standards and frameworks (e.g., NIST SP 800-53, FedRAMP, DoD STIGs).
  • Experience with virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V), cloud platforms (AWS, Azure), and enterprise systems.
  • Strong understanding of system lifecycle processes, including requirements, design, implementation, and sustainment.
  • Excellent analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
Preferred Certifications:
  • Security+, CISSP, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect, or ITIL Foundation
  • Experience with tools such as eMASS, Xacta, JIRA, or ServiceNow
Additional Requirements:
  • Will need to sit onsite in San Diego, CA
  • Must have an Active Security clearance.
  • Experience supporting agencies such as DoD, DHS, VA, or NASA is highly desirable.
