DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Nurse Aide, you will provide compassionate care in the areas of skilled care, personal care, outpatient, and general population. Work utilizes your basic nursing skills and nursing procedures to maintain optimum inmate health and provide quality care. This includes assisting inmates with daily living activities and hygiene to ensure their basic physical care needs are met. You will also collect specimens of urine, feces, and sputum as directed by the Registered Nurse; check and vital signs, height, and weight; and complete all required documentation to ensure patient health is monitored effectively. Your responsibilities will include participating in everyday and out of the ordinary aspects if patient care. You will play a part in Life Skills programming by following nursing care plan orders; providing care/interventions consistent with inmate's needs; and documenting on assigned aspects of nursing care plan. You will also participate in emergency situations by performing emergency procedures as indicated and by participating in emergency response drills as assigned. - Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
- The Department of Corrections is staffed by three work shifts that cover the facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
- 1st shift: 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM; 2nd shift: 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM; and 3rd shift: 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM
- 8-hour shifts with rotating days off
- Work hours TO BE DETERMINED
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry; or
- Six months of paid experience in the care and treatment of geriatric or physically ill patients or residents.
Special Requirement:
- This position is assigned to a long-term or specialized care facility and requires active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry.
Additional Requirements:
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.

- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
