Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Water Metering Specialist to join our team. This is a senior-level role that requires deep technical knowledge of water meter systems, with a focus on installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of large and specialized meter sets. The ideal candidate will bring a proven track record of working with complex water metering infrastructure, ensuring accuracy, reliability, and compliance with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of water meters of all sizes, with emphasis on large and specialized meter sets. Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to meter functionality, performance, and integration with monitoring systems. Perform detailed inspections, calibrations, and testing to ensure accuracy and compliance with local regulations. Collaborate with utility partners, contractors, and internal teams on meter system design, upgrades, and replacements. Provide expert-level guidance and training to junior technicians and field staff. Maintain accurate service records, documentation, and reports on installations, testing, and repairs. Ensure all work complies with safety standards, codes, and organizational policies. Supervise up to but not limited to 5 Project Managers at any given time.
Qualifications
Must be 21 years of age of older Education: High School Diploma or GED Experience: 5+ years' related experience Extensive hands-on experience with water meter installation, especially large and specialized meter sets. Strong knowledge of water distribution systems and meter technologies (mechanical, ultrasonic, AMR/AMI systems). Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and specifications. Skilled in troubleshooting, calibration, and system diagnostics. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Commitment to safety and adherence to industry best practices.
Preferred Experience & Credentials
Minimum 8+ years in water metering or related utility field. Education: Associate degree Certifications in water distribution or metering technologies a plus (e.g., AWWA, NAPT). Prior supervisory or experience preferred.
Drug/Alcohol Testing:

Physical Requirements:
Must be able to remain in a stationary position for long periods of time Repeat motions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers Work that includes moving objects up to 50 lbs. Communication with others to exchange information. Must be able to see, read, write, and speak Requires standing, walking, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and materials. Willingness to work in various weather conditions and environments. Valid driver's license and ability to travel as needed.

Where We Work Employees will begin their day at the local office where they will pick up their company vehicle, equipment, and assignments for the day.
Primarily office work for administrative tasks and meetings. Occasional outdoor work with exposure to various weather conditions. Will need to be available on occasion to assist in emergency repairs or urgent support.
