Position Overview
The Patient Services Representative I (Phlebotomist I) serves as the primary point of contact for patients during routine and diagnostic laboratory visits. This role is responsible for collecting high-quality blood specimens, preparing samples for laboratory testing, and ensuring a safe, professional, and compassionate patient experience. The position requires precision, confidentiality, and a strong commitment to process excellence while adhering to established procedures and safety protocols. Job Responsibilities
Perform daily phlebotomy and specimen collection activities accurately and efficiently under the supervision of the area supervisor
Collect quality blood samples from patients, ensuring proper identification, labeling, and specimen integrity
Prepare specimens for laboratory testing according to standard operating procedures
Explain collection procedures clearly to patients, providing reassurance and maintaining confidentiality
Maintain a safe, clean, and professional environment at all times
Perform both forensic and clinical specimen collection duties in compliance with company and regulatory standards
Maintain accurate and complete records, documentation, and sample tracking
Promote a positive, professional image to patients, clients, coworkers, and the general public
Work collaboratively with team members to meet collection goals and ensure timely service
Demonstrate organizational commitment and uphold company values in all interactions
Job Requirements
Ability to provide high-quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric patient collections
Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, on-call shifts, and overtime as needed
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a customer service mindset
Proficiency with keyboarding and data entry
Must reside within a 20-25 minute commute of the assigned worksite
Reliable personal transportation required (public transit or rideshare not considered acceptable for coverage reliability)
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required
Medical training such as Medical Assistant or Paramedic preferred
Phlebotomy certification preferred (required in California, Nevada, and Washington)
Work Experience
Minimum of 6 months of phlebotomy experience required
One or more years of phlebotomy experience preferred
Customer service experience in a retail or healthcare setting preferred

Reliable transportation to and from the worksite is required; bus, Uber, or rideshare services are not acceptable
Must be punctual and available for all scheduled shifts; excessive absenteeism or tardiness may result in termination
Candidates must verify commute time prior to submission to ensure compliance with the 20-25 minute requirement
