Position Summary

The Vice President, Managed Services leadership role is responsible for shaping and executing the strategic direction of Cardinal Healths pharmacy management business. This business provides pharmacy management services to hospital inpatient pharmacy, outpatient and community health center pharmacy, and specialty pharmacy as well as remote pharmacy services, and drug procurement solutions.

The ideal candidate will leverage deep pharmacy operations expertise and strong relationship management skills to drive growth and achieve financial objectives. By cultivating and expanding partnerships across hospitals, outpatient pharmacies, and specialty providers, this individual will play a critical role in advancing Cardinal Healths integrated pharmacy solutions.

This role is responsible for building and sustaining strategic relationships with C-level decision makers to ensure the delivery of consistent, efficient, and compliant pharmacy solutions. This role drives operational excellence by implementing policies and initiatives that reduce costs, minimize waste, and improve patient outcomes, all while maintaining adherence to federal and state regulatory requirements.

This leader will collaborate closely with existing and prospective customers to identify tailored pharmacy solutions, negotiate service agreements, and align offerings with clinical and financial goals. Additionally, the role partners closely with internal legal teams to proactively manage risk and ensure contractual and regulatory compliance.

This position reports to SVP/GM, Health System and Provider Distribution & Services.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the financial performance of the business unit, with direct accountability for revenue growth, SG&A management, profit margin optimization, and expense control to support strategic segment expansion.
  • Leads ongoing account management and drives large-scale sales initiatives to generate sustainable revenue growth. This includes strengthening customer relationships, ensuring high retention, and overseeing the renewal and strategic enhancement of pharmacy management contracts with hospital partners.
  • Collaborates with Regional Directors to oversee and enhance service delivery and operational performance at the hospital level, reinforcing Cardinal Healths position as the leading outsourced pharmacy management partner in the acute care space.
  • Designs and implements strategic initiatives, policies, and processes for pharmacy operations, ensuring alignment with client expectations and driving high levels of satisfaction and performance.
  • Develops financial and operational models aimed at reducing costs, optimizing drug reimbursement, improving efficiency, and driving profitable growth in support of broader business objectives.
  • Supports potential acquisitions by providing expert insight and evaluation to assess integration feasibility and profitability within Cardinal Healths pharmacy portfolio.
  • Ensures full compliance with FDA, DEA, and other regulatory bodies governing pharmacy operations and reporting, maintaining the highest standards of safety and accountability.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of healthcare leadership experience, preferred
  • Bachelors degree in related field, or equivalent work experience, preferred
  • While not required, Pharmacist experience is highly desirable
  • Requires strong financial skills and a comprehensive understanding of pharmacy revenue models
  • Must possess a comprehensive understanding of the regulations and requirements set forth by governmental agencies such as the FDA, DEA
  • Expertise in Inpatient Pharmacy Management
  • Familiarity with 340B program regulations and compliance requirements is strongly preferred
  • Ability to travel up to 30% nationwide

Anticipated salary range: $193,200 - $311,955
