As Vice President of Compliance and Chief Compliance Officer for our Community & State business, you will manage within a matrixed team of compliance professionals and provide strategic leadership to our business partners. Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and guidance to UHC Committee & State (C&S) executive leadership team on Medicaid compliance and regulatory issues

  • Establish and implement standard policies, procedures and align best practices across the company to promote compliance with applicable laws and contractual obligations

  • Manage a team of regional and local health plan compliance officers and staff supporting C&S program integrity and RFP responses

  • Work within a UHC Compliance Shared Services structure that works with the business to prevent compliance issues from occurring; monitors with the business to detect issues and corrects those issues when detected through monitoring or regulatory audits

  • Collaborate with support functions to deliver an effective compliance program for the state and federal regulated products within the business segment. Collaborate with fellow line of business (Commercial and Medicare) compliance officers to ensure robust compliance program across UHC

  • Influence, lead and collaborate within the highly matrixed Compliance team and with highly matrixed business partners across UHC, Optum and UHG

  • Drive issue problem resolution for the C&S business and collaborate with operations, clinical, pharmacy, network and other areas to review, analyze and develop/oversee initial implementation project plans and/or corrective action plans to ensure compliance with new or existing laws and state and federal regulations, including company, customer and accreditation requirements

  • Consult and coordinate with new business/ product development, including robust bid process to determine regulatory requirements and expectations unique to a marketplace

  • Lead business segment with strategic thinking, the ability to influence, strong communication skills (verbal and written) and the ability to translate and execute strategies

  • Provide strategic leadership on regulatory affairs, compliance and privacy through multiple layers of management and senior level professional staff

Required Qualifications:

  • JD or other relevant advanced degree preferred or at least 10 years of relevant compliance and regulatory experience

  • Strong knowledge of compliance and regulatory matters relevant to the health care industry

  • Strong communication skills and business acumen

  • Self-starter with proven track record of driving results in heavily matrixed environment

  • Strong leadership skills with demonstrated ability in managing and developing others, including leading large teams

  • Collaborative, innovative, accountable and agile team leader

  • Excellent strategic decision-making, analytic, influence and communication (written and verbal) skills

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you'll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $196,600 to $337,100 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
