DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As an Accounting Assistant or payment processor, you will work within a unit responsible for accounting for Commonwealth of PA revenues, refunds of expenditures, and agency accounts receivables. In this role, you will perform accounting duties in preparing revenue and refund transactions for various agencies of the Commonwealth. Work involves examination of a variety of documents for propriety, quality, and conformance to established policies, procedures, and controls to ensure fiscal accountability and transparency. You will be expected to effectively apply customer payments, relieve open receivables, post cost allocations and prepare standard correspondence. You will have the opportunity to assist customers with problem solving and provide general guidance.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, with in-office days when work dictates such requirements, two to four days per month. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
  • Salary: All new employees with the Commonwealth will start at the minimum salary.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience performing bookkeeping or clerical accounting work; or
  • An Associate Degree in accounting or business administration including or supplemented by six credits of accounting.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must possess one or more years of SAP or other Enterprise Resource Planning experience.
  • You must possess one or more years of accounts receivable and/or bookkeeping experience.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
