Motor Vehicle Mechanic
Levington, KY Secret Clearance The Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and repair of wheeled vehicles and associated systems. This role ensures operational readiness and safety of vehicles used in transportation, logistics, or tactical operations. ________________________________________ Key Responsibilities: *Vehicle Inspection & Diagnostics oConduct routine and scheduled inspections of wheeled vehicles. oUse diagnostic tools and software to identify mechanical and electrical faults. *Preventive Maintenance oPerform oil changes, fluid checks, filter replacements, and lubrication. oMaintain service records and ensure vehicles meet operational standards. *Mechanical Repairs oRepair or replace components such as engines, transmissions, brakes, axles, and suspension systems. oConduct overhauls and rebuilds of major vehicle systems when necessary. *Electrical System Maintenance oTroubleshoot and repair lighting, ignition, and charging systems. oReplace batteries, alternators, and wiring harnesses. *Tire and Wheel Services oInspect, rotate, and replace tires. oPerform wheel alignment and balancing. *Hydraulic and Pneumatic Systems oMaintain and repair hydraulic brakes, steering systems, and lift mechanisms. oReplace seals, hoses, and fittings as needed. *Field Support (if applicable) oProvide mobile repair services in field or remote environments. oRecover and tow disabled vehicles. *Safety & Compliance oAdhere to safety protocols and wear appropriate PPE. oEnsure vehicles comply with environmental and operational regulations. *Tool & Inventory Management oMaintain tools and equipment in good working condition. oTrack parts usage and assist with inventory control. ________________________________________ Qualifications: *High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification preferred. *Proven experience as a vehicle mechanic (military or civilian). *Knowledge of diesel and gasoline engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems. *Ability to read technical manuals and schematics. *Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. *Valid driver's license; CDL or military license may be required. |
