What You Can Expect Working in the Safety & Compliance Officer Position

As the Safety & Compliance Officer, you'll work closely with senior leadership and conduct regular facility inspections to identify and address potential health, safety, or environmental hazards. You'll lead the response to safety, security, and environmental concerns from employees and clients, ensuring timely resolution and documentation. This role includes advising on regulatory changes and maintaining compliance with OSHA, EPA, KDHE, TCEQ, and client-specific programs through training, permitting, and policy development. You'll also manage key records and serve as the primary contact for DISA, overseeing employee drug and alcohol testing protocols.

Responsibilities
  • Plans and implements programs to train managers and employees in work site safety practices, fire prevention, and correct handling techniques for chemicals, toxins, equipment, and other materials.
  • Prepares studies and analyses of industrial accident causes and hazards to health for use by company personnel and outside agencies.
  • Leads the investigation of accidents and injuries and cooperates in the preparation of material and evidence for organization use in hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations.
  • Compiles and submits accident reports required by regulatory agencies.
  • Prepares and arranges safety exhibits and material for display, promotional work, industry conferences, and exhibitions.
  • Represents the organization in community or industry safety groups and programs.
  • Ensure compliance with all insurance company requirements for coverage and compliance
  • Directs the Safety Advocate teams at each facility to provide training in safety audits and assessments, regulatory compliance, first aid, emergency response, etc.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Associates degree or equivalent; 4+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel; ADP payroll systems; Internet software and database software.
  • Valid Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Possess the following Certificates: Fall Protection Training/Inspector, OSHA 30 Hour, First Aid CPR/AED/BPP.
  • Experience in a Manufacturing or Construction Environment.
  • Experience with ISO standards 45001 and 14001.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) Certification.
