THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a County Social Services Aide 1, you will be trained and supervised by a Licensed Practical Nurse who will teach you how to properly serve and care for the people who attend our Adult Daily Living Center. Your training will include how to help clients with personal care and hygiene tasks as well as helping them walk or move around our facility. You will also help our team by taking and recording vitals, serving snacks and meals, and planning and facilitating recreational activities. We will rely on you to observe participants, monitor the program area, and adhere to all policies and regulations while providing support and services. This is essential for ensuring the safety and wellbeing of everyone in our care.

You will also have the chance to build positive relationships with program clients. This will help you effectively participate in their care planning and treatment goals while helping them have some fun. Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours will vary based on the needs of the consumers.
  • Travel and overtime may be required to attend meetings and trainings.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Graduation from high school; or
  • Any equivalent combination of training and experience.

Other Requirements:

  • You must meet the PA residency requirement. For more information on ways to meet PA residency requirements, follow the link and click on Residency.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • You must pass a background investigation.
  • A physical and tuberculosis test are required. A conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening and medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
