Job Summary

Assists the team with travel, practices, and supporting academic and player development initiatives. Coordinates and carries out recruiting efforts in collaboration with the coaching staff and prospective student-athletes for both on-campus and off-campus activities.Assist coaches with all on-court workouts, practices, etc

  • Assist coaches with creation of skill development plans/film for players
  • Assist coaches with opponent scouting report creation and implementation
  • In charge of recruitment of male practice players
  • Execute all necessary paperwork for male practice players and managers
  • Works with the Head Coach and assistant coaches with the team travel; game day operations for the team at away and home games; community service opportunities and appearances as coordinated with student-athletes and the Assistant Director of Student-Athlete Development and Community Relations; pre-season/summer training (including meals, housing, etc). Coordinates activities for recruiting visits and works with the Compliance office to secure all admissions-related paperwork.
  • Develop strong working relationships with student-athletes that emphasize the value of education and the development of self-reliance, self-confidence, empowerment, and intrinsic motivation.
  • Maintains confidentiality for the department. Treats with utmost confidentiality and sensitivity any matter pertaining to academic and personal data of student athletes and any information either directly or indirectly impacting the University and/or Athletic Department.
  • Oversees and ensures active participation of the Women's Basketball team in community service programs.
  • Edits game film into point of attack tapes, updates of FIU film library on a daily basis, assists the assistant coaches in gathering of high school film, provides daily updated film list to the assistant coaches.
  • Edits all practice and game film and creates season highlights to design video used for recruiting purposes within NCAA rules.
  • Represents the University and the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics on behalf of Women's Basketball at professional meetings, alumni events community service functions and other events as necessary.
  • Maintains discretion when handling confidential information.
  • Adheres to all State of Florida, University, NCAA, Conference USA, and department rules and policies pertaining to the position of Coordinator, Women's Basketball Operations. Reports any known NCAA violations or concerns to the Director of Athletic Compliance and be responsible for the monitoring of any subordinate as it relates to NCAA regulations.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or as directed. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
  • Assists in the logistic operations for official visits, game day operations, and giving campus tours to prospective student-athletes and their families
  • May supervise lower level staff.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of relevant experience; OR a Master's degree; OR six (6) years of relevant experience; OR an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience. Relevant experience may include working as a graduate assistant or formal intern in an athletic program.
