Summary
The QA Release Technician is responsible for reviewing laboratory testing data and associated documentation to make usage decisions in SAP, ensuring that products meet Nature's Way specifications and quality standards. This role demands strong organizational skills, attention to detail, focus, resiliency under pressure, and effective prioritization of competing tasks. As part of a two-person on-site team, the QA Release Technician serves as the primary contact for internal customers regarding product release, requiring excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Process Releases of Materials:
    • Review testing results against established SNA specifications.
    • Verify completeness and accuracy of documentation.
    • Perform material disposition in SAP and WMS.
    • Escalate deviations or Out-of-Specification (OOS) results to the QA Specialist.
    • Communicate product status to internal teams.
  • Process HOLDS:
    • Initiate HOLD notifications upon request.
    • Close HOLDs and manage inventory based on final disposition.
    • Process scrap and vendor return notices.
    • Monitor quarantined and blocked stock reports for final disposition.
  • Prioritize QA tasks for Contract Packaging Purchase Orders by timeline.
  • Generate Certificates of Analysis (CofAs) for contract production and Amazon Andon Cord requests.
  • Monitor and update inspection types for new and existing materials.
  • Perform SOP and Work Instruction writing and editing consistently with the work assigned by your supervisor.
  • Process status changes for damaged materials and issue trash notices.
  • Use Quality Systems to supply product data for specific projects and update electronic information.
  • Participate in special projects as needed.
  • Represent QA/QC policies and communicate requirements and concerns across departments.
  • Adhere to company GMP policies.
Skills and Abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).
  • Experience with electronic management systems, especially SAP.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality.
  • Problem-solving skills involving a variety of variables in unique situations
  • Familiarity with GMP environments.
  • Basic understanding of chemistry and microbiology is a plus.
Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of related experience in a quality assurance or similar role.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage tasks under pressure with high attention to detail.

Language Skills
Must have the ability to read/write and understand both verbal and written work instructions. The ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from internal and external customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business in a professional manner and effectively present information to management and specialty teams.

Mathematical Skills
The ability to perform basic math functions of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. The ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations in a pharmaceutical forum.

Reasoning Ability
The role requires the aptitude to make logical decisions. Problem solving, prioritization, communication both with a partner and independently are essential skills for the role. Familiarity with symbolism (formulas, equations, graphs, etc.) as needed to complete assigned tasks is beneficial.
