Position Summary:
Are you passionate about driving innovation and building robust automation infrastructure? The Automation Infrastructure Lead manages a team responsible for the OT Networks and data application systems in the Biopharmaceutical Operations Facility. The Automation Infrastructure Lead is tasked to lead a group of OT and Application Engineers supporting business-as-usual operations, system upkeep & maintenance, continuous improvement, and capital project execution. The role maximizes the performance, reliability, and security of OT systems and networks.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical server management and stewardship of control systems and the OT network infrastructure. Systems include Building Automation (Siemens Desigo), DCS (Emerson DeltaV), PLCs (Allen Bradley), MES (Emerson Syncade), InfoLog (Informetric), InfoBatch (Informetric), and AgileDocs (Informetric). Infrastructure includes network components and nodes (e.g. switches, thin clients, servers, hosts, Dell VTRXs, etc.), control panels, and support applications/systems (e.g. Hyper-V, F5 NLB, Thin Manager, Acronis B&R, etc.).

  • Provide technical application management fulfilling user requirements for InfoBatch (Informetric) and AgileDocs (Informetric)

  • Oversee application engineers who perform routine administration and configuration management of systems for data aggregation and data analysis. This includes the management of user access control (SailPoint), communication between systems over the OT Network, configuration and maintenance of manual data entry forms and workflows, and configuration updates

  • Lead, manage and/or support capital projects from design through commissioning and handover.

  • Ensure a strong cyber security posture for all site systems and networks by maintaining compliance with GSK standards, aligning with industry and vendor best practices, and championing best behaviors within the site. Improve and maintain our systems and ways of working as it relates to data integrity through active engagement with Quality and Validation peers and compliance with GSK and industry standards.

  • Work in a way that models respect for safety, quality compliance, data integrity and engineering standards.

  • Maximize the performance and uptime of all site automation systems and networks. Provide troubleshooting support to address real-time operational issues supporting Tech, Automation, Production and MSAT.

  • Supervise a high-performing team of technical contributors. For each direct report, set performance goals and provide feedback, engage in employee development and maximize throughput.

  • Act as an effective primary point of contact for OT support and data acquisition systems and ensure team members are adequately informed and aligned on priorities and expectations. Actively collaborate across disciplines to ensure optimal solution delivery and resource allocation.

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Computer Science, Life Sciences, or a related field; and 4+ years of relevant technical experience.

  • 5+ years of experience in automation systems design, programming, and troubleshooting.

  • Experience in PLC programming (e.g., Allen Bradley, Siemens) and SCADA systems.

  • Experience working in a GMP manufacturing environment.

  • Experience with design, programming, commissioning, validation, and maintenance & troubleshooting of automation code and systems.

  • Experience coding on one or more of the following products/platforms: Emerson DeltaV, Siemens Apogee/Desigo, SQL Databases, XML, XLS/XLT.

  • Experience with systems administration, systems integration, and network troubleshooting.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

Please note the following skills are not necessary, just preferred, if you do not have them, please still apply:

  • Master's of Science in Chemical, Software, or Electrical Engineering

  • Experience with laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and electronic lab notebooks (ELNs).

  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards related to automation in pharmaceutical research.

  • Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, R, C#, or Java, and experience with scripting for automation.

  • Experience with cloud computing platforms and services (e.g., AWS, Azure).

  • Strong analytical skills and experience with data visualization tools.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects to completion on time and within budget.

  • Ability to diagnose problems, generate options, prioritize issues, select optimal solutions, and implement decisions/resolve problems.

  • Demonstrated ability to interact well with peers and senior personnel in multidisciplinary teams involving scientific, engineering, and operational disciplines.

  • Strong stakeholder management and team leadership skills.

  • Extensive coordination, planning, and organization abilities.

  • Effective communication skills to articulate complex technical issues to non-engineering stakeholders.
