Position Summary

The Pott College of Science, Engineering, and Education at the University of Southern Indiana invites applications for a 9-month tenure-track Assistant Professor of Education with a focus in Elementary Education and Literacy to begin January 2026.

Duties/Responsibilities

Responsibilities include teaching education content and literacy methods courses for pre-service elementary teachers, teaching graduate courses for in-service teachers, maintaining an active research agenda, engaging in professional and university service activities, and advising undergraduate education majors. The faculty member will have the potential to develop a research agenda that leads to scholarly works and the engagement of students. Modest start-up funds and other financial support are available to initiate a productive research effort.

Required Knowledge and Skills

A Doctorate in Education is required. ABD candidates will be considered at the rank of Instructor if the terminal degree will be completed by the end of their first year of employment. If employment starts in January 2026, terminal degree must be completed by the end of December 2026.

The Department of Teacher Education offers undergraduate degree programs in early childhood education, elementary education, and special education, along with licensure programs in secondary education. The Department also offers a spectrum of Master of Science in Education degree programs, along with an Ed.D. program in educational leadership.
