Position Description: |
The University of Iowa Department of Pathology seeks surgical pathologists with subspecialty expertise to join a collegial group of academic pathologists. We are an active surgical pathology division that is sub-specialty focused and covers a growing network of hospitals and clinics in eastern Iowa, with >60,000 cases annually. Candidates will be considered on either the non-tenure clinical track or tenure track at assistant, associate, or professor level. Sub-specialty training and/or experience in breast pathology, genitourinary pathology, gastrointestinal pathology, or thoracic pathology is desired; cytopathology training/experience would be an added benefit but not necessary. In our model, faculty would cover one or more surgical pathology subspecialties. Faculty will participate in training of pathology residents, fellows, and medical students and will have abundant opportunities to pursue clinical/translational research. Successful candidates will be required to self-disclose any misconduct history or pending research misconduct investigation including but not limited to sexual misconduct in prior employment and provide a related release and will be subject to a criminal background and credential check.

Education Requirement: |
- MD or equivalent
- Graduation from an accredited Anatomic Pathology or Anatomic Pathology/ Clinical Pathology residency program
- Fellowship training or equivalent experience/expertise in general or sub-specialty surgical pathology

Certifications: |
- Board certification in Anatomic Pathology or Anatomic Pathology/Clinical Pathology with credentials required to obtain a medical license in the State of Iowa
|
Desirable Qualifications: |
- Experience, fellowship training, or demonstrated interest in breast pathology, genitourinary pathology, gastrointestinal pathology, or thoracic pathology
- Excellent skills in practical surgical pathology
- >2 years of academic experience
- Demonstrated ability to excel at scholarship and teaching
- Evidence of leadership potential
