Position Overview
The Medical Affairs, Medical Review Intern, under the guidance of the Lead Medical Review manager will join a team of Medical, Legal, Regulatory, and Biostats colleagues in collaboration with Marketing, Corporate Affairs, and other teams to portray truthful and relevant advertising and to confirm materials are consistent and current with medical practice, clinically and factually appropriate, and presented within appropriate context.

The position is intended to be a full-time summer opportunity for an undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a degree in the biological sciences, biotechnology, health sciences, or medical field to obtain hands-on experience with medical review activities and operations for the Screening Business Unit Medical Affairs organization. This position is based in the corporate office in Madison, WI.

Essential Duties
include but are not limited to the following:

o Learn about and contribute to Medical Review operations:

  • Verify studies, statistical methodologies, analysis, and data cited are appropriate, high quality, and statisticallysound to support the presentations or suggestions being made, and references used are reputable sources that areappropriately interpreted and properly described.
  • Analyze information to ensure truthful and non-misleading presentation and appropriate contextualization.
  • Attend cross-functional meetings and provide consultation in conjunction with Lead Medical Review Manageron asset development projects across multiple segments.

o Support the development, communication and dissemination of Medical Review communications:

  • Contribute to the development of informational materials such as guidance documents and data on file packetsto support consistent and accurate messaging across the business unit.
  • Aid in the production and dissemination of the Medical Review and Content Management (MRCM) newsletterand Medical Review process trainings to enhance submission and review experiences.

o Identify, complete, and present an Experiential Project at the culmination of the internship: The purpose of the Experiential Project is to allow the intern to identify an aspect of their role and responsibilities that affords them theopportunity to highlight their creativity and strategic approach to networking and problem-solving skills.

o Uphold company mission and values through accountability, innovation, integrity, quality, and teamwork.

o Support and comply with the company's Quality Management System policies and procedures.

o Regular and reliable attendance.

o Scheduling requirements:

  • Ability to work designated schedule.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.

o Physical requirements:

  • Ability to work on a mobile device, tablet, or in front of a computer screen and/or perform typing forapproximately 90% of a typical working day.
  • Ability to grasp with both hands; pinch with thumb and forefinger; turn with hand/arm; reach above shoulderheight.
  • Ability to work on a computer and phone simultaneously.
  • Ability to use a telephone through a headset.
  • Ability to comply with any applicable personal protective equipment requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in biological sciences, biotechnology, healthsciences, or medical field.
  • Preference giving to candidates with a record of outstanding academic achievement.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Word, Power Point, and Excel.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the Essential Duties of the position with or without accommodation.
