Job Summary

The Research Associate will lead the analysis of the SPHEREx cosmological large-scale structure survey. They will lead the development of power spectrum and bispectrum estimator, and validate the overall methodology on numerical simulations.

Essential Job Duties

  • Develop power spectrum and bispectrum estimators and validate their performance, first in simulations and then on the real data.
  • Simulate the effects of known systematic errors on these estimators.
  • Write scientific publications on this work.
  • Analyze the SPHEREx galaxy redshift survey for constraints on cosmological parameters, and report on the results and the statistical and systematic errors in publications.

Basic Qualifications

  • PhD in physics, astronomy or astrophysics with an extensive post-PhD background in cosmological analysis in large-scale structure surveys.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Must work collaboratively within multi-disciplinary technical and scientific teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong background in statistical analysis methods.
  • Familiarity with the formats and instrumental properties of the SPHEREx data products.
  • Background in computational methods and numerical analyses.

Hiring Range

$79,700 - $112,500 Per Year

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
