Duke University Health System - Patient Revenue Management Office (PRMO)seeks to hire aSenior IT Analyst (Professional Coding/Mid Revenue) who will embrace our mission of Advancing Health Together.

General Description of the Job Class

The Analyst, IT SR is a senior-level role supporting system optimization efforts across professional billing, coding, and revenue management functions. This position will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to identify workflow inefficiencies, implement Epic system improvements, and drive revenue integrity across the organization.

The analyst will focus on Epic system optimization, professional and technical medical coding enhancements, charge capture strategies, and workflow data analysis to support coding accuracy, compliant billing, and operational efficiency.

Duties and Responsibilities of this Level



  • Lead system improvement efforts related to Epic with a focus on coding workflows, charge capture, and billing compliance


Eliminate obsolete edits, reduce redundancy in charge review, and increase automation through Epic charge handler enhancements.



  • Technology Integration: Leverage Epic functionality and incorporate other 3rd party AI autonomous coding and RM tools to reduce manual effort
  • Establish a structured approach to documentation standardization, workqueue management, and charge capture methodologies.
  • Collaborate with clinical, coding, and IT teams to identify and address workflow inefficiencies and revenue cycle bottlenecks
  • Support and drive strategic charge capture initiatives that improve accuracy, timeliness, and financial outcomes
  • Participate in testing, validation, and implementation of Epic upgrades and new features affecting billing and coding processes
  • Monitor and analyze Epic work queues and system performance to inform improvement opportunities
  • Serve as a key liaison between Revenue Cycle leadership and Maestro Care teams, translating operational needs into scalable system solutions
  • Support Epic PB optimization efforts by maintaining a deep understanding of tools, configuration options, and coding workflows



Required Qualifications at this Level

Education: Bachelor's degree or 4 years' experience equivalent to a degree

Experience: 4 years pertinent experience

Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification: This person will be required to obtain Epic Resolute Professional Billing Office Administration for SBO and SBO Admin or Resolute Hospital Billing Office Administration for SBO and SBO Admin certification through a formal Epic training program. Training will commence on the first available date with Epic for up to a period of six weeks, and may include classroom instruction, project assignments, competency exams, and e-learning classes. Failure to obtain Epic Resolute PB or HB and SBO certification within the defined timeline may result in termination.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:



  • Solid understanding of Epic application principles and system development lifecycle, with the ability to analyze, implement, test, and document IT solutions.
  • In-depth knowledge of Epic PB workflows, particularly related to coding, billing, and charge capture optimization.
  • Ability to identify and resolve workflow inefficiencies through system analysis and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills with a focus on system-driven solutions.
  • Proficiency in gathering, interpreting, and leveraging workflow and operational data to inform system enhancements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to work effectively with both technical teams and end users.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Some experience with SQL or relational databases preferred.
  • Able to work independently and adapt to changing business needs.
