Description

As the Stormwater TechnicianorOperator I, you'll play a vital role in the upkeep and enhancement of our town's stormwater systems and infrastructure. Under general supervision, you will perform a variety of tasks in the operation and maintenance of Town stormwater systems, right of ways, and in support of the operation and maintenance of the distribution system, wastewater collections system and other Town infrastructure. The Stormwater Technician/Operator primarily works for the Storm Maintenance Division within the Utilities Department, however cross-training and other duties may be assigned. Work Hours: Typical working hours are 7:00AM - 3:30PM

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsibilities and duties vary depending on the level of the position. The level of aid, assistance, or support required may differ based on the role you are hired for. - Aid in a variety of routine to complex maintenance and construction activities to include storm sewer jetting, manhole maintenance and inspection, storm water system maintenance, CCTV inspections, ditch maintenance and repair, detention pond maintenance and repair, and right of way maintenance
- Aid in installation and maintain a variety of specialized and complex equipment related to storm operations and collection and performs light mechanical repair and maintenance
- Aid in operations of heavy and light duty equipment to perform related maintenance and construction assignments
- Aid in a variety of heavy laboring activities including the use of hand tools, light power equipment, string trimmers, landscaping tools, and heavy construction and maintenance equipment
- Aids in inspections collection and storm installations and works with Town inspectors as needed
- Aid in snow removal activities either by hand, small equipment or heavy equipment as assigned
Administrative and Customer Service
- Aids data entry of information, maintenance logs and other data in spreadsheets and related software
- Aids in response to customers and contractors' inquiries and complaints
- Help prepares necessary records and reports
Safety
- Performs a variety of duties that require considerable knowledge of the use and wear of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Performs routine safety checks of equipment and minor maintenance activities on vehicles and equipment and maintains records of activities
- Maintains a safe working environment to include working in traffic and congested areas, working in ditches and confined spaces and all work environments
- Assists in the cleaning and organization of shop area
Operations & Maintenance Support
- Assisting D&C with sanitary sewer jetting, hydrant flushing and maintenance, repair water, sewer, valve exercising and maintenance, PRV inspections and maintenance, monitoring lift stations, and CCTV inspections of the utility system
- Assisting Meters with reading and maintenance, service orders, conducting turn-offs and turn-ons of residential and commercial water services
- Assisting Streets with maintenance of roadways and signage.
- Assisting Locates with utility locates
- Assisting in Town events preparation, operation and break down
