UAT Testing Specialist
The UAT Testing Specialist plays a pivotal role in ensuring that products align with user experience and business requirements, while supporting our overarching organizational goals. The UAT Testing Specialist possesses Frontier business acumen and effectively applies user acceptance testing principles and methodologies. The UAT Testing Specialist leads testing efforts ranging from small to large in size and complexity, while supporting UAT to coordinate internally and cross-functionally to drive efforts to successful completion. Key Responsibilities:
- Supports multiple complex efforts independently, including end-to-end planning, execution and reporting
- Serve as the primary point of contact for the UAT team within scrum development teams or Enterprise projects, effectively representing UAT needs and priorities.
- Plans and prioritizes UAT activities for efforts of low to medium complexity based on project timelines and requirements
- Design, execute, and maintain comprehensive test cases to validate software functionality, usability, and performance for efforts of low to medium complexity
- Identify, document, and track defects for their projects, ensuring timely resolution and retesting
- Support in providing status updates, presentations and demos to stakeholders for their projects
- Coordinates and facilitates training or side-by-side sessions to help testers get familiarized with their projects
- Informs UAT Management of test environment(s) issues to ensure they accurately mirror the production environment. This includes but is not limited to latency, missing or broken functionality.
- Continuously improve testing processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and effectiveness within their project
- Participate in UAT training sessions and workshops and incorporate learning to testing practices and processes
- Identify data needs for their upcoming efforts in a timely manner to ensure data is available to test their projects
- Document and report any new data needs or tool enhancements identified, that could improve UAT's accessibility to test data (e.g. add features to the Test Data Management tool, or TCOE Data Requests)
- Ability to create or retrieve data from IT systems as necessary to complete testing for their projects or as assigned to fulfill UAT testing needs
- Have a working knowledge of current test case automation for their area and projects and provide feedback on how their current efforts can be automated
- Provides feedback to leadership, stakeholders and IT based on testing results to determine UAT go/no-go approval
- Report concerns appropriately about potential negative impacts to users, business processes, even if they do not result in a defect. (e.g. needed workarounds, training call outs, process concerns, documentation needs)
- Track, monitor and report progress and status of their projects
Skills:
- General understanding of how IT systems interact and high-level knowledge of Frontier's system architecture
- Solid understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), as well as agile and waterfall methodologies: familiarity with concepts like sprints, user stories, integration, deployments and how UAT testing fits
- Experienced in UAT tools like: AccelQ, Jira and Power BI or similar software
- Analytical and problem-solving skills: attention to detail to quickly analyze issues, identify impacts and root cause
- Effective verbal and written communication: ability to represent UAT for their efforts with different audiences including stakeholders, developers, QA testers and leadership
- Time management: ability to prioritize tasks, create schedules, allocate time effectively and meet deadlines
- Experience with risk-based testing: prioritizes and focuses testing efforts on high-risk areas to optimize time utilization
- Experience with test planning: accurately plan and estimate testing efforts, creating comprehensive test plans upfront for their efforts
- Working knowledge of basic productivity software like MS Office/Google Suite
