Job Summary: The Equipment Associate is an entry-level position responsible for performing various tasks to support the general operation of the Rental facility and Yard. This position requires an ability to follow instructions and safety protocols. Their primary function is checking equipment in and out, ensuring it is washed, maintaining yard organization, loading and unloading equipment, and performing equipment inspections. The Equipment Associate may handle light maintenance duties such as minor repairs on equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare equipment to be rented, including attaching appropriate attachments or work tools to equipment. This may include connecting auxiliary lines and hoses for appropriate attachment operation.
- Load and unload equipment as needed.
- Conduct functional inspections and testing of equipment according to manufacturer's recommendations.
- Wash and clean equipment to maintain a high standard of cleanliness.
- Perform Preventive Maintenance 1 (250-hour basic machine service) per manufacturer's guidelines.
- Prepare new units for operation and conduct performance function checks.
- Replace decals and paint units as required.
- Replace minor parts using basic hand tools, such as tires and wheels, toggle switches, selector switches, key switches, emergency stop buttons, fuses and fuse holders, electrical coils, pins, bucket teeth, chains, guard rails, and other minor wear items.
- Order parts and run errands as needed.
- Perform yard and building maintenance tasks.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic mechanical knowledge and skills.
- Technical, vocational, or trade school education desired.
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment and ability to multitask while maintaining a high level of organization in a primarily outdoor environment
- Physical ability to perform manual labor and lift heavy objects.
Physical Requirements: In addition to being able to sit, stand, walk, read, talk, write and hear, to perform the essential functions of this job an individual must be able to do the following additional activities: Occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Accommodations will be made if they are reasonable, do not create an undue hardship, and will enable an individual with a disability to safely perform the essential job functions. The following may be expected to be encountered: long periods of standing, periodic exposure to seasonal heat and cold, working with oils and greases, noise, shift work as needed - 1st and 2nd, working outside, stooping, bending, squatting, or working in a prone position.
