Join our team at Terex Utilities and embark on an exciting opportunity as we seek a skilled and dedicated Product Safety Engineer to contribute to the Terex Utilities team in Watertown, SD.

What you'll do

In this role, you will be responsiblefor providing technical support and oversight for all Terex Utilities products.This position will develop and conduct assessments to evaluate product safety levels and recommend measures to reduce or eliminate hazards related to the use of the product and ensure technical documents instruction in the safe use are produced to Terex standards.

  • Work with quality on internal containment of an issue
  • Support the research into root cause
  • Research date range of the issue
  • Work with sourcing and vendors to gather supporting information
  • Compiling a list of effected units
  • Lead the drafting and release of the all bulletins and their distribution - safety notices, product notices, product advisories and service advisories.
  • Responsible to maintain current information in the Campaign Tracking document.
  • Provide timely feedback from the field to NPD teams (Gate 2)
  • Assist NPD team with completion of risk assessment (Gate 3)
  • Review all safety signs, marketing materials, & sales literature (Gate 4)
  • Participate in technical reviews (All phases)
  • Lead ANSI/CSA certification reviews on behalf of NPD team
  • Review and ensure all marketing & sales literature complies with Terex standards
  • Review all bulletins with corporate product safety for approval
  • Review all product manuals for Terex standard compliance and opportunity for improvement
  • Ensure Terex Utilities is compliant with all National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) policies, including but limited to Safety recalls and early warning reporting.
  • Provide support to the business unit
  • Review and become familiar with product design records, responsible for organization and completeness of these records working with product engineers
  • Ensure that our distribution network is familiar with all applicable standards and regulatory requirements
  • Involvement (either voting member, alternate, or supporting guest) in ANSI (A92.2, A10.31) and CSA committees
  • Ensure that our distribution network is familiar with all applicable standards and regulatory requirements and that all of their installations comply.

What you'll bring

  • BS - Mechanical Engineering and 5 - 8 years of related experience
  • Has been responsible or highly involved in aspects of accident reporting and investigation
  • Experience being a technical conduit with company's corporate legal needs
  • Licensed PE preferred
  • Work practices of utility companies
  • Hydraulics, mechanical and electrical systems
  • Standards and regulations development process
  • Excellent communication skills (able to convey ideas clearly to non-technical audience)
  • Good technical skills, with the ability to develop significant product knowledge in short period
  • Must be able to work with all levels of the organization
  • Ability to dig deep into history for information
  • Interested in taking alternate path in engineering (not management or technical)
  • Possess ability and desire to perform research on past and current products

Travel

  • Domestic and international travel - 20% of time

Salary: The salary range for this position is $110,000 to $135,000 annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc.
