The Department of Immunobiology is seeking a Researcher/Scientist to support the research functions (including in vivo studies) in the Doyle Lab. Research in the Doyle Lab focuses on the inflammatory response to stroke and is developing biomarkers and treatments that will be used to improve recovery from stroke. The successful candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, be well-organized, and be highly motivated. The candidate must be able to work independently as well as collaborate with others within the laboratory. Duties & Responsibilities |
- Independently develops and modifies study designs and testing procedures for stroke-related research projects.
- Provides recommendations to fit specific experimental requirements and communicates outcomes to the research team.
- Serves as the lead coordinator for research projects with multiple investigators; maintains collaborations with the Veteran's Administration, University of Arizona core services, and University Animal Care (UAC).
- Provides researcher support including coordinating schedules, handling intake, maintaining records and files, and contributing to oversight of regulatory records maintenance.
- Provides oversight of research operations and serves as backup to the Principal Investigator as needed.
- Maintains extensive knowledge of and ensures compliance with institutional, federal, and sponsor regulatory requirements.
- Prepares research reports, conducts literature reviews, and contributes to manuscripts and grant proposals/applications.
- Completes administrative and technical support for research projects, including grant documentation, regulatory submissions, and equipment maintenance.
- Prepares written materials to support research publications and funding proposals.
- Designs and maintains research databases to support study requirements.
- Extracts and prepares datasets from large databases for advanced statistical analysis.
- Leads quantitative and qualitative data analysis and develops data summaries, reports, presentations, and manuscripts for dissemination.
- Independently performs standard and complex laboratory tasks in accordance with established procedures.
- Responsible for writing study procedures and laboratory techniques, ensuring accuracy, reproducibility, and safety compliance.
- Provides instruction in specialized equipment operation and laboratory methodologies.
- Identifies and recommends solutions to technical and methodological issues encountered in research projects.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to manage multiple projects.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Knowledge of university procedures/policies regarding Sponsored Projects and IRB.
- Computer literate in all critical programs (Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel and Publisher) and the aptitude to learn new software as necessary for grant writing, presentations, fiscal management and website/brochure creation.

Minimum Qualifications |
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Experience with RNA sequencing, immunostaining, tissue processing, immunoassays, flow cytometry, and ELISPOT assays.
- Experience with data management or databases (genomics, metabolomics, lipidomics) and competence in statistical software package (e.g., prism, or R).
