Job Summary DRS Naval Power Systems in Danbury, CT designs and delivers advanced naval power and propulsion solutions that enable mission-critical performance to the US Navy and allied fleets around the world. We are seeking an accomplished Senior Director of Engineering to lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers across mechanical, electrical, test, and systems engineering. We need a strategic leader to drive product development, engineering excellence, and innovation in support of our growing portfolio. What You Will Do Provide technical and strategic leadership across all engineering functions to ensure execution of programs on time, on budget, and to specification. Lead engineering strategy for product development, modernization, and technology roadmaps supporting naval power and propulsion systems. Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within a high-performing engineering organization. Partner with Program Management, Operations, and Business Development to align engineering priorities with business objectives. Oversee design assurance, validation, and qualification processes to ensure product quality, safety, and compliance with defense standards. Develop and mentor engineering talent to build future technical leadership capability. Represent engineering in customer and government technical discussions and design reviews Education & Experience Requirements Bachelor's degree in engineering with 15+ years of experience (including at least 5 years in technical leadership or executive roles). Proven track record of managing complex defense, naval, or power systems programs. Demonstrated success in leading large, cross-functional engineering teams. Strong understanding of design-to-manufacture processes, systems engineering, project engineering, and lifecycle management. U.S. Citizenship required. This position may require an active DOD security clearance or the ability to obtain such clearance within a reasonable time after commencement of employment.
