Your Role on Our Team

The Set Up Technician I is responsible for supporting the manufacturing of product by operating and maintaining equipment and processes that provide optimum customer service. The Set Up Technician I supports the production process by setting up, adjusting, and troubleshooting equipment. Set Up Technicians will perform independent operation of various CNC machines, will maintain machine operations, perform independent tool changes and set-up without assistance. Set Up Technicians will also have the ability to cycle through proven and unproven programs to obtain first article without assistance on multiple machine types. This position is responsible for collaborating with other technicians and operators as necessary.

A qualified candidate for this role is experienced in all the responsibilities of an Operator I & II and must show the propensity for further technical demand in addition to the following duties and responsibilities.

Technicians in this category:

  • Will be responsible for knowing and implementing all area specific compliance issues, including quality, environmental, safety and Milwaukee Tool/West Bend policies.

  • Will contribute to team efforts by participating in continuous improvement projects as required.

  • Will also assist with training associates as necessary. Also responsible for enhancing the department's productivity and quality and assisting Supervisor or Team Lead as required.

You'll be DISRUPTIVE through these duties and responsibilities:

  • Follow all safety policies and proactively identify potential safety issues, and practice 6S standards to maintain a safe and clean working environment for all employees.

  • Maintain production by supporting all equipment in the designated area. Set up, adjust and troubleshoot equipment, including automated operations, controls, robotics, and sensors.

  • Review programs on numerical and PLC equipment and adjust offsets, as required. Communicate with Supervisor, Team Lead and Maintenance Techs about required ladder logic and PLC troubleshooting.

  • Perform preventative maintenance responsibilities. Participate in updates of preventative maintenance schedules. Complete routine equipment inspections and complete required documentation.

  • Investigate and efficiently assist with diagnosis and resolution of equipment and quality issues, production delays or stoppages. Participate in performing root cause analysis and assist with implementing the best solution.

  • Troubleshoot and assist in minor equipment repairs. Provide feedback to Maintenance and Supervisor/Team Lead as needed. Learn and complete corrective actions as directed.

  • Inform Supervisor/Team Lead or Department Manager about processes or equipment requiring attention.

  • Recommend and participate in completion of continuous improvement projects specifically designed to improve processes, productivity and quality, especially those related to corrective actions.

  • Monitor the cycles of equipment to verify process is running efficiently and within designated tolerances. Escalate or assist as needed.

  • Complete other duties as assigned by the Manager/Supervisor, including supporting other shifts if necessary.

The TOOLS you'll bring with you:

  • Two (2) years of previous experience, and/or equivalent training and experience required.

  • High School or GED diploma required plus Technical Certification in a Mechanical, Electrical, Automation or related program or equivalent combination of education and experience in maintenance, mechanical, or technical field.

  • Above basic math skills and reasoning ability.

  • Leadership, quality communication, interpersonal, and mentoring skills required.

  • Fork truck certification, overhead crane, CNC programing, understanding of PLC programming.

  • Established ability to identify and communicate issues and offer proposed solutions.

  • Excellent attention to detail is required.

  • Ability to manage interruptions in a professional and respectful manner is essential.

  • Must demonstrate good written and oral communication skills.

  • Able to interpret technical data, including drawings and schematics, accurately.

  • Must be proficient in the use of common inspection and test equipment.

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills required.

Other TOOLS we prefer you to have:

  • Prefer a minimum of 2 years of experience in maintenance, mechanical, or technical field at Milwaukee Tool or similar employer.
