This internship is ideal for someone with a strong interest in science journalism and a passion for connecting audiences with impactful stories. As part of the engagement team, the Intern will help develop and implement strategies to grow and engage Scientific American's audience across digital platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, Facebook, YouTube, and Reddit. This includes planning, writing, scheduling, and analyzing social media posts, as well as assisting with the creation of visually compelling content for short-form videos. The role involves contributing to audience development initiatives such as tracking website metrics, collecting feedback, and helping identify audience segments. The intern will engage directly with readers by responding to comments and highlighting community voices and user-generated content. Overall, the position supports efforts to amplify Scientific American's journalism and extend its reach to new and diverse audiences while staying true to its mission of delivering trustworthy, accessible science content. This position pays $22 per hour and is full-time-up to 35 hours per week-for 5-6 months, starting in January, during Spring and Summer 2026.
