What You Will Do The Special Hazard System Designer will independently design fire suppression systems, focusing on special hazard, clean agent, and gas systems for data environments. This role is essential for producing detailed documentation and drawings that convey design intent to clients, consultants, and project teams.
How You Will Do It
Manage your workload while mentoring junior designers for effective collaboration. Review medium complexity designs, ensuring compliance and value-engineered solutions. Work with teams to create technical submissions, including schematics that meet project specifications. Utilize field experience with clean agents to prepare project documentation for critical environments. Conduct calculations to guarantee compliance with standards. Engage in design meetings, providing insights based on hands-on experience. Prepare bills of materials for project execution. Ensure submissions meet equipment compatibility and project requirements. Assist Project Managers in maintaining project margins through effective solutions. Respond to inquiries about fire suppression systems promptly. Support commissioning efforts to verify system performance. Provide technical support to field teams and subcontractors. Assist with pre-sales estimates to ensure proposal accuracy. Mentor team members on precise documentation practices and step in during their absence. Review team outputs for quality assurance. Track hours worked to align with project budgets.
What We Look For Required
Experience with special hazard and clean agent suppression systems. Knowledge of enclosure and hazard types. Hands-on experience with various clean agents. Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PDF software. Able to read and interpret blueprints. Strong communication skills. Willingness to learn hydraulic software. Ability to finalize project drawings. Experience in material management. Understanding of compliance requirements. Strong time management and leadership skills. Ability to identify design flaws. Capability to manage multiple projects.
Preferred
Experience with Ansul and Kidde systems. Familiarity with VESDA detection systems. AutoCAD proficiency. Experience with fire alarm systems. 5+ years of suppression design experience. NICET certification or willingness to obtain.
HIRING SALARY RANGE: $ 68,000 - 85,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, location and alignment with market data.)
