Under the limited direction of the Section Manager of New Business Services, fulfills the role of Company liaison providing guidance to major commercial and industrial customers. Determine customer project requirements by evaluating the load requirement, energy systems power quality, regulatory and Tarrif requirements necessary for the installation of gas and electric facilities. Additionally, coordinate with internal departments for execution of engineering studies, analysis of construction site and load data, and interconnection requirements. Ensures customer is familiar with service classification information, applicable codes and specification and billing procedures to ensure timely customer project satisfaction and delivering a positive experience. Must have excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.
Core Responsibilities
- Promotes and coordinates the installation of electric and/or gas facilities to major new and existing commercial and industrial customers by evaluating construction site conditions and load requirement data to determine cost involved and insure that the customer is familiar with billing procedures, rates and service classification information.
- Provides specifications and coordinates engineer studies and construction schedules to meet the requirements of the customer and the Company.
- Meets with commercial and industrial customers for the purposes of evaluating their electric and/or gas requirements. Promotes teamwork throughout the construction process to enhance productivity.
- Develops positive working relationships with consulting engineers, architects, customers, land developer/builders, and other key stakeholders to keep abreast of proposed or existing planned expansions to provide adequate and timely energy service to the customer.
- Provides timely feedback to customers and contractors relating to project status.
- Familiar with all-pertinent national, state, and local electrical and construction codes, Company policies, tariffs, procedures, processes, and construction standards relative to customer installations and Company facilities. Familiar with NYISO and NJ Load interconnection processes.
- Must function as a liaison between the Company and the customer. Communicate company policies, processes, and procedures to the customer and ensure customer project timelines are communicated to ensure a positive customer experience.
- Responsible for creating and monitoring billing orders and executed agreements for projects as needed.
- Responsible for the maintaining priority customer information, customer records/files and will assist the Managers of New Business Services in the preparation of periodic reports and load forecasts.
- Demonstrates leadership and initiative by identifying process improvements or efficiencies.
- Must be knowledgeable of all natural gas rates, gas construction, and state of the art gas metering. Must be cognizant of all AGA, ANSI, state and local codes, as well as the technical aspects of gas equipment and related manufacturing processes.
- Performs other related assignments as required.
Required Education/Experience
- Bachelor's Degree and 3 years Relevant work experience in either project/program management, electric or gas service installations, and/or service-related construction or
Relevant Work Experience
- Must have a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in Operations, Engineering, Project Management or related work experience, required.
- Must have strong interpersonal skills necessary to interact with customers and act as a Company liaison regarding all energy related matters, required.
- Must demonstrate ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, apply individual judgment, initiative and decision making in the handling of Commercial and Industrial projects, required.
- Must be computer proficient with Microsoft Office software products, required.
- Must posses the ability to effectively interact with all levels of management, as well as customer, customer representatives, trade organizations and government agencies, required.
- Must have excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills, required.
- Must proactively approach responsibilities, required.
- Must be articulate and responsive to customers and colleagues, required.
- Maintain a high degree of professionalism under pressure, required.
- Must have good working knowledge of electric and gas transmission/distribution systems, preferred.
- Must demonstrate an understanding of the construction standards and policies of the Company and a working knowledge of the normal and emergency work procedures of Company forces, preferred.

Additional Physical Demands
- The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be able and willing to travel within Company service territory, as needed.
- Must be available to be on-call and/or participate in off-hour emergency response activities as required.
- Must be able to use personal vehicle as required for Company business.
- May be required to make field inspections as needed.
