Function:

Finance & Accounting Job Summary:The Supervisor, Sales and Use Tax, applies a comprehensive knowledge of state sales and use tax laws for the monthly preparation of sales and use tax accruals and return filings. The role includes reviewing monthly transactions for appropriate tax determination. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and able to work effectively in teams or independently. Job Description:
  • Complete and/or review the accuracy and timely filing of multi-state sales/use tax returns per statutory requirements.
  • Review the monthly transactions for the appropriate sales and use tax determination.
  • Prepare and/or review tax payments and reconciliation of tax bills and GL accounts.
  • Participates in identifying and analyzing development and enhancement opportunities for corporate systems used to meet sales/use reporting requirements.
  • Coordinate and respond to sales and use tax audits.
  • Maintain exemption and resale certificate compliance.
  • Research changes in state and local tax law and advise on business impact.
  • Performs other indirect tax compliance duties as needed to assist other tax staff members.

Successful incumbents will have:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field required.
  • Professional certification (e.g., Certified Public Accountant) is desirable.
  • At least five years of sales and use tax experience.
  • At least two years of experience in a supervisory role.
  • Possession of well-developed tax technical expertise in sales and use taxes and the ability to effectively address and manage complex matters involving past, present, and future considerations and consequences.
  • Strong critical and analytical thinking skills and the ability to identify issues and develop and implement practical solutions.
  • Experience and familiarity with ERP systems.
  • Strong knowledge of Vertex and Onesource Sales and Use Tax Compliance is preferred.
  • Strong communication (oral and written), interpersonal and negotiation skills and the ability to act as an advocate for the Company, when necessary, and to interact effectively with a wide variety of people within and outside CF.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects in a deadline-oriented environment.

Position Scope/Contribution:

This role routinely interacts with internal and external constituents and represents CF's Tax Department. Occasionally, travel to various Company facilities and professional education/training programs may be required.

Management of the tax staff requires coordination of the major responsibilities of the group. Time constraints can be demanding and require significant planning, organizing, and directing of people, events, and resources.

Estimated base pay for the position is typically between: $91,500 - $120,700

The actual base pay for the position may be influenced by factors such as education, training, skills, qualifications, competencies, years of experience, job-related knowledge, and scope of the role, and could be outside of the posted pay range.
