Overview

The Supervising Pharmacistwill be responsible for leading the Pharmacist and Intern teams to meet performance, quality, satisfaction, and operational goals. Key duties will include hiring, training, scheduling, reporting metrics, conducting evaluations, and managing employee relations. This role will require holding a NYS Supervising Pharmacy License and ensuring regulatory compliance for Reliance Rx.

The Supervising Pharmacist will collaborate with cross-functional teams to support staff, resolve inquiries, monitor and adjust workflow, audit processes, and ensure policy adherence. They will coach team members to maintain service levels and recommend training for development. Additionally, they will fulfill all responsibilities of a Certified Specialty Pharmacist, including dispensing, counseling, and participation in RCQC meetings.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required. Licensed to practice pharmacy in the state of New York and NYS Supervising Pharmacist (Pharmacist-in-Charge) License Required. PharmD preferred. Certified Specialty Pharmacist preferred.
  • Four (4) years of experience in a high-volume pharmacy required. Experience in specialty pharmacy and dispensing preferred.
  • One (1) year of progressive leadership/management responsibility required.
  • Experience in a dispensing pharmacy with demonstrated results supervising teams in a performance-based environment.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and work cross functionally. Ability to create an understanding of an idea in a clear and concise manner.
  • Success in establishing and achieving goals as well as motivating others toward the same. Leadership skills to include training, coaching, listening and conflict management.
  • Ability to apply problem solving methodology to organizational problems and service schedules.
  • Excellent analytical and process management skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Essential Accountabilities
  • Maintain compliance as the NYS Supervising Pharmacy for Reliance Rx and ensure adherence to NYS pharmacy regulations, and other applicable state laws for the pharmacy.
  • Monitor team performance and workflow by overseeing daily operations to ensure tasks are completed accurately, efficiently, and in alignment with quality standards, service levels, and time goals. Adjust assignments and maintain workflow schedules to meet operational needs and cutoffs.
  • Responsible for inventory and compliance oversight. Ensure proper drug order intake and inventory handling, including adherence to FIFO and cold chain protocols, in compliance with Reliance Rx policies and accreditation standards.
  • Provide timely updates to staff, address inquiries and complaints, and prepare the team for daily challenges through effective communication and coaching.
  • Manage team schedules to ensure adequate coverage, including task rotations as needed. Monitor attendance and address issues promptly, especially those exceeding department averages.
  • Partner with leadership and HR to support staffing needs. Ensure pharmacy workflow adheres to best practices and remains within acceptable performance ranges.
  • Maintain high levels of both internal and external customer satisfaction.
  • Coach, mentor and evaluate team members and ensure proper new hire training, retraining and on-going staff development.
  • Prepare and review monthly performance reports with each team member and make recommendations as required.
  • Perform dispensing, counseling, on-call (as needed), and other duties of a Reliance Rx Certified Specialty Pharmacist.
  • Maintain current technical knowledge base regarding Reliance Rx's contracts and benefits and working knowledge of policies and procedures through updating manuals, filing e-mails and other department protocols.
  • Contribute to workflow to support the team through periods of high volume or low staffing.
  • Knowledge of all applicable pharmacy systems.
  • Maintain high level knowledge of the specialty pharmacy industry non-sterile products, supplies, and equipment (i.e. through continuing education, additional certifications, and industry networking).
  • Maintain assigned Pharmacy in Charge pharmacy license.
  • Apply conflict resolution skills to support patient understanding and satisfaction.
  • Stay current on pharmacy laws, patient rights, and regulatory updates.
  • Work closely with operations, compliance and contracting to maintain updated knowledge of regulations that affect workflow or responsibility.
  • Provide assistance to the team and other associates of Reliance Rx, Independent Health, affiliates, and external customers with timely and accurate responses to verbal and written inquiries regarding orders, claims, benefits, eligibility, reimbursement and order status.
  • Responsible for ensuring HIPAA compliance with order preparation and shipping.

Hiring Compensation Range: $130,000 - $160,000

Compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to skills, education, location and experience.

In addition to base compensation, associates may be eligible for a scorecard incentive, full range of benefits and generous paid time off. The base salary range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
