The IAM Specialist is responsible for overseeing and maturing the internal identity and access governance program for Farm Credit East (FCE). This includes developing and maintaining internal policies, procedures, and documentation for systems and processes not managed by FPI, the organization's managed service provider. The IAM Specialist will collaborate with FPI to ensure alignment with FCE's standards and will serve as the internal subject matter expert for IAM-related audits, risk assessments, and project support. This role also ensures appropriate access control mechanisms are in place for new and existing applications not managed by FPI, and that they align with FCE's internal IAM policies and standards. The employee shall perform all other duties as assigned. Duties and Responsibilities Internal IAM Ownership
- Maintain internal documentation (SOPs, runbooks, workflows) for IAM processes across FCE-managed systems.
- Serve as the internal point of contact for IAM-related audits, risk assessments, and compliance reviews.
- Support internal projects requiring IAM input, including new application onboarding and access design.
- Collaborate with FPI to develop and maintain standardized access requests with approval workflows in addition to templates for new hires, role changes, terminations, mobile, name change and other access requests.
- Collaborating with FPI to ensure FPI-managed systems have the necessary IAM controls, related documentation, and are updated as necessary.
- Ensure appropriate identity and access control mechanisms are implemented for new and existing applications and processes not managed by FPI, and that they align with FCE's internal IAM policies and standards.
- Ensure access provisioning and deprovisioning processes are documented, repeatable, and auditable.
- Support the implementation and configuration of IAM solutions for FCE-managed systems.
- Monitor IAM system anomalies and potential security threats, and escalate findings as needed.
- Track and report on SLA adherence for IAM-related requests across FCE and FPI-managed systems, escalating delays or deviations as needed.
- Provide regular reports on IAM activity, including access trends, anomalies, and audit results.
- Deliver insights on IAM-related risks and compliance status to support governance and decision-making.
Oversight & Governance
- Develop and maintain FCE-specific IAM policies and procedures, including role definitions and entitlement frameworks.
- Coordinate with FPI to define, document, and maintain SLAs and turnaround times for IAM-related requests (e.g., new user provisioning, access changes, terminations, privileged access, emergency access), ensuring alignment with FCE's operational and compliance requirements.
- Provide guidance and oversight to ensure IAM related security controls are implemented to comply with relevant industry standards and regulations (e.g. NIST, FCA, NYDFS, PCI)
- Collaborate with FPI to ensure IAM services align with FCE's internal standards and compliance requirements.
- Coordinate internal access reviews for systems not managed by FPI
Collaboration & Support
- Partner with IT, HR, and business units to define access requirements and ensure appropriate role-based access.
- Coordinate with HR and IT to ensure timely and secure access provisioning for new employees, including role-based access templates and approval workflows.
- Work with the FPI and the Security team to track IAM metrics and dashboards to report on IAM request volumes, turnaround times, SLA adherence, and exceptions and maintain documentation.
- Support incident response activities by validating access and coordinating with FPI as needed.
Strategic Development & Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve IAM maturity and reduce access-related risk.
- Conduct periodic stakeholder feedback sessions to refine IAM processes and improve user experience.
- Stay current on IAM trends, technologies, and regulatory changes.
- Contribute to roadmap planning and cross-functional security initiatives.
- Attend IAM conferences and workshops.
- Participate in IAM communities and forums
- Read IAM-related blogs, articles, and whitepapers
Job Qualifications and Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related field required. Master's degree or equivalent experience preferred.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in Identity and Access Management, cybersecurity, or IT governance. Experience working with managed service providers (MSPs) and third-party IAM service vendors.- You are required in office 5 days per week for the first 2 weeks; weeks 3 - 8 in office 4 days per week with the option of Friday remote; after week 9 you will follow the in office requirement based on your job role. This is based on manager discretion and meeting performance expectations.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Salary Range: $80,000 to $120,000 commensurate with experience
- Short-Term Incentive to reward business results
